Dr. Kerry A. Powell, MD

Saw Dr. Powell just yesterday. As others have said, he is direct but that directness is balanced by a sense of personal concern, absent even the hint that he is in a hurry. He talks to, rather than at. And that, in my experience, in becoming rare these days.

I had to go to the ER last night and thankfully got to Dr Powell whom I have seen several other times. He is straight to the point, I have very badanxiety and requested other tests. He reassured me that there was no bigger problems, he didn't push me to get these tests done. He also took care of some other things that my PC doctor didn't take care of. When I heard he was the doctor it was music to my ears. He sat with me for 15 mins or more until all my questions were cleared up and made sure I understood everything. He made me laugh although I was in tears and assured me I wasn't dying lol, I always think I am. I'm really upset he's only an emergency room doctor I wish he would be my regular doctor. He is a super intelligent man, and I admire him and appreciate him so much.

Quick and to the point without being harsh. He is an ER doc and handled multiple emergencies with aplomb. Doesn't see patients outside the ER which is sad, because I would make him my primary physician in a heartbeat.

I met Dr. Kerry A. Powell at the emergency department 1906 Belleview Ave. for the first time. He was very kind and took time to help me put in words how I was feeling in order to make a diagnosis and he did it in a few minutes. My husband and I left the department with my integrity and self value intact, even though I may have been too anxious/wrong about having a heart attack. I felt cared for and I am thankful to him and nurse Tracy (she is an angel).

I saw Dr. Powell in The RoanokeMemorial Hospital Emegency room...which in part explains the long delay in actually seeing him, despite the fact that I was brought In by ambulance. The emergency room staff "did all the preliminary questions, blood tests, heart monitoring etc." that could be expected. Dr. Powell was thorough and explained his process every step .His bedside manner was refreshing with his British wit and mannerism. I would not hesitate to seek Dr. Powell's assistance if ever warranted in the future, in or outside of a hospital.
