Kersten Lw Schwanz, MD

Dr. Kersten Schwanz is a nonoperative sports medicine physician at Summit Orthopedics specializing in ultrasound-guided procedures, diagnostic ultrasound, and performance-based sports medicine care. A Twin Cities native and former Division I rower, she combines her background in athletics, strength training, and medicine to help patients return to the activities they love. Dr. Schwanz completed fellowship training in primary care sports medicine at Harvard Medical School and Mass General Brigham after serving as chief resident during her PM&R residency at the University of Minnesota. She believes in a collaborative, function-focused approach to care that aligns treatment plans with each patient’s goals and lifestyle. Outside the clinic, Dr. Schwanz stays active as a strength coach and sports medicine specialist for a competitive Ultimate Frisbee team and enjoys hiking, traveling, reading, and baking.
