I have seen many psychiatrists, starting at 18, and now at 41 I can say that, in a big part due to Dr. Kevin Collen and his persistence in getting to the root of my issues, I am truly well. He works with a steady hand and doesn't just fill me with pills and say "see ya next month" like psychiatrists have done in the past. He takes extensive notes along the way in order to steer you towards the ultimate goal of being well. He's also very humble, attributing much of my progress to me, not him. I am so grateful for his help in getting me to where I am today.

Dr. Collen has had issues with his own methamphetamine addiction and has been reprimanded by the Board .

If doctors malpractice they lose their license but if a psychiatrist pushes his agenda, no problem. Do not trust this guy. Terrible experience.

I became a patient of Dr. Collen after a horrible experience with another psychiatrist after moving to Nashville and being established with an amazing psychiatrist in NY. The first Dr. I went to in Nashville changed everything. I had been stable on my regimen of 2 medicines for years . I came to Dr. Collen after a hospitalization, my first and only, after said psychiatrist. Dr. Collen spent time with me, he does not over prescribe which I think is a wonderful thing. Sometimes I feel like psychiatrists get bored and want to try the newest and latest from their drug reps. He also highly values therapy, recovery meetings if you are duely diagnosed, basically he expects you to work for your recovery which may be why prople have said he was harsh? I just respect that he knows pills are only half of it and the other modalities are the other. If you are willing to take an active role towards your recovery, I think you will find him to be very kind, caring and willing to listen. I never… ever feel rushed. All that to say I truly respect him and consider him an excellent Dr.

I've never felt so judged or shamed or dismissed by a doctor before

Judgmental, acts superior and makes you feel bad about yourself after you leave. I can say honest to God that he is a jerk and hope you have a better experience. Don't go infor anevaluation. It's a waste of money and it will ruin you.

I'm very pleased with Dr. Collen's care. I've had several psychiatrists over the years and Dr. Collen is easily the best. I feel that he uses a more holistic approach to care than I've seen with other doctors. He reviews with me what's going on in my life and suggesting ways that I can help myself in addition to what medication can do. Also, my depression is treatment resistant, requiring a change of medication periodically; typically finding the right combination of drugs takes quite some time. Dr. Collen helped find the right combination more quickly than I've experienced before. I would also like to add that he is by far the most prompt doctor that I've had experience with. Usually he sees me right on time.
