Dr. Kevin Herbert Cowell, DO

When my husband and myself moved to Mertztown we chose Dr Cowell to be our family physician. We have decided to keep him as our doctor at his new location. He listens, explains, and personally corresponds when necessary. We agree that the extra distance is worth the trip to continue our health care with Dr Kevin Cowell.

My wife and I are new to this area (Macungie, Pa) and in our search for a primary care physician we selected Dr. Cowell based on reviews we found on line. Needless to say, we are very satisfied with our selection. Dr. Cowell has many qualities which we find perfect for our needs including patience, the ability to speak in laymans terms when explaining medical situations and spending whatever time is needed to answer any and all questions we might have. He also returns phone calls promptly and has a very calming manner. We highly recommend Dr. Cowell to anyone looking for a great medical professional.

I saw Dr. Cowell for the first time today, because my primary care doctor is booked solid for another month. I brought my husband with me because I am very used to being dismissed by doctors. Dr. Cowell spent over an hour on our appointment. He listened to all of my complaints and health issues, and asked meaningful questions. He thoroughly went through my medical records. He didn't talk down to me or attribute my issues to depression/anxiety like several other doctors have. I really felt, for the first time, that I was being heard. He was empathetic and honest which was very refreshing. I wasn't able to get all of the tests I wanted but he explained his reasoning and did order some very important ones (like an MRI). I highly recommend this doctor and will definitely be seeing him again. Overall I think this doctor is very kind, trustworthy, and really does care about your health.

He lacks experience in complex disability and chronic pain cases. doesn't seem to have time to discuss problems. Can't function without his lap top. Have been seeing him for a year, he has yet to show any interest in my disability. Hasn't even checked my heart and lungs yet. plan on firing him as my PCP, this week.

He is always very thorough with me and my children. He is very patient and caring with the kids as well. He not only addresses the immediate need but inquires about past issues as well.

Dr. Cowell was on time and courteous with all of my visits. I was impressed with the fact that he took as much time as was needed to get to the problem and find a solution that would work for me and within my insurance plan. I would recommend Dr. Cowell for anyone looking for a great family doctor.

I was very saddened by the care that was given by Dr. Cowell. I feel because of the insurance and the color of my family's skin the care recieved was substandard at best. It is a rarity to be yelled at by a physician because leaving the house is close to impossible because of illness and paralysis. Dr. Cowell could not even bother to check what kind of antibiotics interfered with renal failure that has the potential to do serious damage to kidneys that are already at a low function rate, at best. And the fact that he is completely indifferent to pain, and other medical conditions is very disappointing to me and my family. I would not recommend him to anyone, unless you have the "right" kind of insurance. And I know this because members of my family do have the "right" insurance and get treated alot better.
