Dr. Kevin R Edwards

If I could give zero stars I would. My complaint is very similar to one already posted. Edwards seemed rushed throughout my visit. He did not leave the pre-numbing treatment on longer than 10 seconds (at the most), then proceeded to give me the most painful novocaine shot I've ever had - it lifted me out of the chair in pain. After the procedure, when I confronted him with why the novocaine shot was so painful, he said it was because a needle was going straight into an abscessed area - with a tone that more than implied I should have known this. When I asked him why he couldn't have done me the common-sensical courtesy of a heads-up, or better yet, left the pre-numbing solution on longer before injecting my gum, or given me smaller novocane shots around the affected area prior to the main shot, he simply stared at me and made no comment. His demeanor made it very clear he could not have cared less. This guy’s ego and aloof arrogance was not to be believed.

I have been dreading today's appointment ever since making it a couple of weeks ago. I had a root canal earlier today, and I have to say that my experience was totally the opposite of what I was expecting. First of all, the staff is wonderful, welcoming and very friendly. Dr. Edwards was so kind and caring. He came in to introduce himself and sat down and drew me a photo to describe what the procedure consisted of, and asked if I had any questions. Throughout the painless 45 minute procedure, he frequently checked to make sure I was doing OK, as he may have sensed my initial anxiety. He was very supportive and reassuring. I had such confidence throughout the entire procedure, as he and his assistant worked so well together, and there were no glitches at all. I have no pain this evening, either. All that continuous worrying was for nothing, as I have to say, it was very easy. Thank you, thank you Dr. Edwards. I would highly recommend him to anyone - he's the best!

I had two root canals done by this doctor, the first fast and effcient, and the second while equally fast was the worst torture I have ever experienced in my life. I thought I had experienced pain before, but nothing in my life had prepared me for the pain I experienced that day. I have read novels where a prisoner was tortured by drilling their teeth, while it sounded painful, I had no clue how inhumane drilling on a tooth without anesthesia really was until my second visit to Dr. Edwards. He did the normal anesthetic injections which I have no trouble with, and when he returned he asked me if I was numb and I honestly told him I was much less numb than normal--feedback which apparently meant nothing to him, as he promptly began drilling through my existing cap. The pain made me recoil into the chair and grip the arm rest. I thought that the shots had not fully taken effect, and assured myself that that was the worst of it and I had made it through. NOT, it got much worse from… that point, Dr. Edwards seemed to know when he jammed the file down into the tips of the roots it would hurt the most, because he did not warn me or ask if it hurt, he could tell from the uncontrollable response of my body that the pain was indeed intolerable. I have never written an online review before but given this was an experience I will remember for a life time, I can only hope you will remember never to allow your dentist to refer you to Dr. Kevin Ray Edwards, DDS for a root canal.
