Dr Emmerich saved my life. I got shot and he fixed me up good.

I presented through this urgent care after being bitten in the hand by a 116 pound Cane Corso…specifically I had to rip my hand from his jaw. Although the doctor clearly looked at the wounds and said they weren’t bad, I wept that the pain I was feeling was worse than labor. In which he arrogantly asked if I had ever been through…yes, otherwise I wouldn’t have compared it to that. From the beginning of his “assessment” of my hand he lacked experience and knowledge. He explained pros and cons of suturing a dog bite due to chances of infection (which may I say is the only accurate thing he stated). He did not think x-rays would be necessary, however agreed to do them to make me feel better. I wanted them done because of how much pain I was in, worker’s compensation/to be complete and thorough, and because as I told him before- I had to RIP my hand from his jaw…which is also clear from the gash I had extending down my entire index finger. He also stated that broken bones wouldn’t change… “the plan” of antibiotics and a bandage. Furthermore, despite how many times he and the nurse referred to how nasty germs are from dog infections…they only soaked it in saline, and I had to ask to have it cleaned! If this was an average person that didn’t know any better their chances of having an infection would’ve been tremendously increased due to lack of sufficient and basic nursing care. Lastly he denied me sufficient pain meds for the following 1-2 days and treated me like I was a drug seeker. That is what they make INSPECT reports for and if they would’ve ran one, I am a very low risk. This doctor clearly needs more education and training. He also needs to endure a birth stimulator before he can ever mock the pain a woman goes through for labor. The nurses need to be a better advocate for their patients and learn how to bandage properly…for a hand that I’m not moving, the bandage already has strike through and is falling off. Unfortunately we have had to use this urgent care before, and there are good doctors there, but I would absolutely not recommend and avoid “Dr” E***rich.
