He doesn't introduce himself. On follow-up appointments, he doesn't even say hi back when I say hello. He just hands me an iPad or some papers and tells me to read them. He doesn't take the time to explain my sleep study report. Then doesn't even thank me and goes out the door. Not a good, personable, caring doctor.

My wife (83 years old) was referred to Dr. Hara for consultation concerning a medical condition pertaining to her lung which showed up in an x-ray and cat scan. My wife and I have been apprehensive about those findings and having to be referred to a specialist. Naturally, we were anxious to get her the best care and treatment possible. We were very uncomfortable (primarily based on the way he conducted himself) throughout the whole session of the consultation. Here are some of the reasons why: a. He did not introduce himself; he just presented himself as a joker/clown, cocky and lacked sensitivity to my wife's medical issues. b. As I asked questions because he was not clear as to what he was trying to convey, he kept his back toward me, ignoring me (I guess because I am not the patient) or without looking at me, he just gave short unconcerned type of responses. c. When discussing the area of concern on the monitor, he made a statement that in reference to… doing a biopsy that it would be difficult and dangerous, etc. To me that statement was unnecessary and uncalled for in that he had already pre-determined to do a PET CT. In a professional manner, he could have simply stated that he would have a PET CT done. d. That statement caused quite a bit of anxiety and apprehension in both of us. My wife is going through depression, panic attacks, anxiety, etc., and does not need any additional reasons to worry about. Based on the experience we encountered and lack of confidence about the possible care my wife would be receiving, I decided to suspend/cancel all other on-going actions and engaged another specialist whom we have full confidence in and whom we are completely satisfied with.
