Summary
My colleagues and I have developed this web site to make it easier for you to interact with me and for me to take care of many of your healthcare needs. I'm eager to work with you to make your experience at Kaiser Permanente a positive one.
My Background
As a pediatric intensivist, my specialty is taking care of critically ill children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). In addition to doing residency training in general pediatrics, I spent an additional 3 years specifically training in the care of critically ill children. I am board certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric critical care. If I am your child's doctor, then this is almost certainly a very stressful, emotional time in your life. In addition to providing medical care for your child, it is my privilege and responsibility to work with your family to help get through this difficult time.
I was born and raised in Northern California before moving south by way of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo for college and …U.C. San Diego for medical school. I "bounced" off the bottom of the state and did pediatrics residency, chief residency, and critical care fellowship training in the Los Angeles/Orange County area. I finally returned to Northern California where I was an assistant professor of pediatrics and pediatric critical care at UC Davis Medical Center before making the move to Kaiser Permanente in December 2009.
Since joining Kaiser Permanente, I have seen first hand how our integrated system of care works to help take care of our members. Many children in the PICU have multiple medical problems, many specialists involved, and many medications. The management and integration of all of these components of care is something that Kaiser excels at. The entire care team for your child is readily available to me at any time without the typical red tape and hassle seen in most health care systems.
My Roles & Responsibilities
In addition to my role of taking care of critically ill children in the PICU, I provide sedation for children undergoing procedures in the pediatric subspecialty clinic as well as radiology. It is my responsibility to safely administer sedation medications, monitor children, and respond to any complications that may arise during a procedure or test.
Our Staff
The PICU here at Kaiser Roseville has a superior staff of nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and other services that provide top quality care for your child. As a physician, I am just one piece of this incredible care team. It is likely that during your stay you will also see one of my pediatric intensivist colleagues. Drs. Myette, Alisharan, and I are in constant communication to help make the physician care of your child as seamless as possible.
On a Personal Note
I am happily married to an incredible, beautiful woman who was my "high school sweetheart". We have a son who is the light of our lives (and a happy consumer of much of our time!). The newest addition to our family is a fluffy white Havanese dog named Sophie. We have family throughout the Northern California and Central Valley areas and take pleasure in seeing them as often as possible.
Spending time enjoying good food, good wine, and good friends makes me happy. I also enjoy working on home improvement projects, family walks, swimming, riding my bike, and going to the gym.
