What I thought was a good experience at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane turned out to be a Surprise Billing nightmare. Apparently even though Deaconess Hospital is in network with my insurance they contract with ER Doctors that are not. I have platinum insurance and had met all my deductibles and out of pocket expenses so I thought I was in good shape. A few months later I received an invoice for $1400 dollars from EMBCC patient services out of Dallas TX representing Spokane Emerg Group A Prof LLC. Apparently Dr Innes is part of the ER doctors that do not contract with insurance companies but work in the shadows of hospitals that do. That way they don't have accept reasonable compensation but instead send out surprise bills six times the normal rates. The State of Washington has now passed legislation prohibiting this activity but the law wont go into effect until 1 Jan 2020. I feel Deaconess is equally responsible for this disgraceful and egregious scam. patients beware of… Doctors like this and/or part of the origination. Also beware of anesthesiologist and ambulance companies that do the same. Shame on all of them.

I arrived at Deaconcess Emergency Room for possible kidney stone(s) and was in extreme pain. Having haved kidney stones before, I know what they feel like. Dr. Innes insisted I had a UTI even though after testing my urine, it could not be confirmed. I was sent home with anitbio drugs. No examination of my lower half, no ultrasound, no CT scan (saying it would cause cancer) no questions about my previous kidney stones issue. Dr. Innes's only response was the drugs should kick in in 48 hours. Seriously? 48 hours? If not better, go to my primary care doctor, however, it was my primary care doctor that suggested I go straight to the E.R. for quick help. This doctor truley did not listen to what I was saying and I felt just trying to open up another bed. SO DISAPPOINTED. I called my doctor and she was blown away by his actions. This doctor should not be in the E.R. - he needs to work in a research lab away from the public.
