Dr. Kevin Alan Lang

My husband and I had the utmost respect for this doctor and am still in shock over the news. My husband was helped by him and he was the one who found some serious things going on in his colon. As for me, I was totally out so have no clue and guess I don't even want to know if he touched me wrong..perish the thought. Ewww...I won't condem him, he was a very good doctor, he just has some serious mental issues. It is a shame to lose such a good doctor. Too bad they can't send him to a country where this care is needed to work only on men. What a waste of a good doctor. We lost our last gastro doctor to a brain tumor also from Marshifield Clinic. Very sad indeed. Glad I was totally out of it when I went through the humiliating proceedure, I really do not want to know. I thought there was suposed to be another attending person in the room??? Did he kick them out? I think Marshfield needs to take a closer look at how doctors are allowed to be with patients and a female doctor, PA, or nurse… should attend any proceedure done on a woman if the doctor is male, period! Shame on the Clinic for allowing something like this to happen. And double shame on Dr. Lang for being so foolish with his much needed services!

Since this has become a venue for commenting on the disturbing actions of Dr. Lang, here's my 2 cents worth. I sympathize with the women groped by Dr. Lang while under sedation. Defenseless and betrayed, they are right to seek damages and file complaints. However, I am not ready to join those who cast Lang as a monster. I attended high school with Lang, who was by far the standout scholar of our class. Although not among his closest friends, I admired Dr. Lang and remember him as humble, thoughtful and hard-working. I used to question the possibility of mental disability among otherwise highly functioning individuals but now I'm not so sure. Why else would someone risk 8 years of higher education and roughly 20 years of surgical experience? Why else would someone risk their integrity and the respect of friends and family? Why else would someone risk a job that probably pays $300,000 a year? And why else would someone continue the same behavior that briefly put their career in… jeopardy just six years before?

Dr. Lang was nothing but thorough and professional in his role as physician to me. His expertise diagnosed my condition when 5 other professionals could not. I am still seeking a replacement for him who matches his caliber of medical expertise.
