Dr. Kevin Tracy Merrell, MD

I was very impressed with my experience at Parker Adventist hospital, and Dr. Merrell in particular. I would like to thank him, but don’t know how so hopefully he sees this. I went to the ER last night with excruciating back pain. I have a bad back and I am used to having pain, but this was different. It was the most intense pain I can imagine. Any movement caused me to cry out in pain. I told the staff that I was a recovering opiate addict and that I needed to be very careful. Everyone was very supportive. Dr. Merrel even gave me a pat on the shoulder and congratulated me. He quickly assessed me, took me and my pain seriously, and was able to provide adequate pain relief without strong narcotics. I’m still hardly able to walk, but I can at least relax on my couch without violently shaking and crying. He also referred me to a specialist to hopefully get this issue resolved. I am so thankful that there are doctors like him who will collaborate with patients, listen to them, and treat… them with understanding and compassion. I also appreciate a doctor who us educated about addiction, but understands that having to be punished for being an addict by enduring excruciating pain is just wrong. Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life, but Dr. Merrell was a bright light in the dark, and I’m so grateful.

My husband saw him today. He listened well and picked up on symptoms not mentioned. Very kind and reassuring.

Dr. Merrill has a wealth of knowledge & he is hilarious. I always love his scrubs, he is creative with the scrub top. My daughter was treated by Dr. Merrill 6 months ago. Very caring attitude and loves his patients.
