I was a patient for many many years and thought he was an outstanding MD. But after I had a hysterectomy, he completely changed. First, I went undiagnosed and untreated for months with a serious bladder infection, that could only have happened during the surgery. Second, I continued to have specific pain post surgery, and he said “Maybe you need an antidepressant.” I agonized about what to do, and finally got a second opinion with a gyn oncology surgeons. I ended up having to have a second exploratory abdominal surgery to find out what was wrong. I had massive adhesions attached to my bladder and intestines. And an unknown mass deep in the groin at the original hysterectomy incision line. The mass was a thrombosed vein. If I had not gone to the second gyn surgeon, and pushed for a second surgery, the vein would have ruptured and caused internal bleeding. I would not be here to write this now. I was lucky. There was another patient who was not. She had a very… similar experience. It turned out she had cancer. The only reason she found out was because she went for a second opinion with the same gyn oncology surgeon. That surgeon saved my life.

I have been a patient of Dr. Mitchells since I was 16 and he even delivered me! He is a wonderful doctor, always pleasant and answers any and all questions. Hands down the best!
