Dr. Kevin Dean Morse, MD

Dr. Kevin Dean Morse of San Jose, CA (now Tuolumne, CA) is listed on the web on DoctorHelps as "a SPECIALIST in Addiction Psychiatry, Adolescent Psychiatry & Pediatric Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry. He graduated St. Mary`s Hospital & Med Center. Dr. Morse is affiliated with Mills - Peninsula Health Services and practicing for 48 years."   There's only ONE psychiatrist in California named, "Dr. Kevin Dean Morse" and who trained at St. Mary's and works/worked in San Jose. We aren't sure why a review below discounted an earlier patient's account regarding being seen by Dr. Morse when they were a young person and what that experience was like for them. We would suggest careful review before selecting him as a provider.

From Yelp regarding Dr. Morse's move to Tuolumne, CA after he was recruited to work for Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center 6 months ago. Entry dated 31 December 2024, patient writes: "Run do not walk away from this place! Especially do not visit their Behavior Health Center! They have two Psychiatrists and one is Doctor Kevin Morse! He is an uncaring doctor who does not really care for his patients ! Bottom line: He lied to me!! Betrayed me! Abandoned me just before Christmas! I would have never believed he'd do this to me but he did! STAY AWAY FROM SEEING THIS DOCTOR . . . I speak the truth!!!" End quote.

I’ve been going to Dr. Morse, for some time now. He has helped me through some very difficult times. He is a really good listener, with a lot of insight.

Dr. Morse does not see adolescents. Dr. Morse has helped me a lot and I am grateful to him. What really bothers me, is that in the reviews that I have read here, you all really seem to have an ax, to grind. And prefer to just act in a slanderous and libel manner. If you really had been real patients, you would have known he does not see adolescents, not only that some of the other things that you posted are simply not true. Also, repeating alleged gossip from an angry ex employee, without fact checking just looks really stupid.

Cannot recommend him.

He is quite elderly, not alert. Sleeps during sessions.

This guy was on illegal drugs when I was seeing him. I was a kid at the time. I am still a young person so this wasn't all that long ago. Problem is, the druggie doctors that got found out before the new law was passed don't have their names listed on the State Board of Medicine's web site as having had any problems or "actions" against them. I think every doctor that has EVER been identified by the State as an addict should have to have their names listed for everyone to know. Other states do that. The law here has to be changed like it has in many other states already. In many other states, too, once a doctor gets caught being an addict, they never get their license back. I don't think that is fair, but I do think it is fair that you at least know the person has been identified as an addict and faced discipline by the State. I know addicts that started using drugs in school and still are using them even though they have gone to rehab many times. The saying goes, "Once an… addict, always an addict." Okay, so now you can believe me or you can wonder. Oh, after his secretary Carla tells my parents he is an addict, because I had told them he was acting weird, she says, "I hope you will continue to bring your child to see him. The State is closely monitoring him now." My parents were furious. I called the State Board and asked for myself, too. I will never forget hearing the woman at the Board saying, "He is a doctor that has caused us problems." That is all she could say, but that was enough. If you find him sleeping on you like the person below did or acting weird in any way, you should report him. He never touched me inappropriately or was unkind to me, but I will never trust an old guy like him again that might have drug skeletons in his closet and the State protects him because he got caught before the new law and not after. Why would anyone want to see a doctor that is that messed up. I mean, I was just a kid and I could tell something was really wrong with him. His eyes were alway bulging out, red and glassy looking. He suddenly stopped looking that way, I guess, because he got caught and wasn't on drugs anymore. He still was a weird guy though. He would suddenly blurt out things that didn't make any sense, like he had no control over what he was saying. My parents took me to another kid doctor and I started feeling happier and able to handle my problems better right away.

Dr. Morse, I think is a really good doctor. He listened to me and helped me to feel much better about myself. Whereas some other doctors I had gone to in the past made me feel like an idiot. He listens and has helped me work through stuff and has helped me a lot.

To the woman who wrote he was rude, be glad he didn't call you back. Most of his reviews here and elsewhere seem like they were written by patients that have become his emotional captives--10 to 20 years? That's not being a "healer." That's being used by a guy that is probably taking advantage of you because you are private pay--he doesn't have an insurance company he has to answer to and demonstrate you are actually making progress. His office smells, is dirty and looks like an eccentric hermit has taken residence. He's a kiss and tell guy, too. If you are a celeb patient, he name drops or leaves little guessing as to who you are. I've thought to contact a few and let them know but haven't wanted to cause them distress. Just get a nice golden retriever. It will lick your face and not try to grab your wallet after it wakes up from a nap. Go see a psychiatrist that is alert, engaging, professional, and returns calls.

Dr. Morse has been working with me for 7 years. I don't know how I would have gotten through as much as I have without him. Dr. Morse is an excellent Doctor. He listens and is very attentive to my needs. I highly recommend Dr. Morse.
