Dr. Kevin Arthur Oconnor, MD

I learned about Dr. Conners long before we came here as I learned about him when my sister was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Dr. Conners with great compassion said he would see her, but unfortunately she was too advanced and died before she ever made it here. So when my husband started having low blood numbers and before he was diagnosed with AML acute myleoid leukemia, I contacted Dr. Conners. From the inception we were met with love, compassion prayers, and hope--what God offers.

My wife and I have been on this journey for almost 4 years and have visited the so called predominant cancer institutes across 7 states. We have finally arrived at a place where knowledge,compassion and real medicine is practiced. Thank god for Dr. Connors and for leading us to this facility and his team of amazing care givers.

Dr. O'Connor is not your usual "modern" in&out meds-only psychiatrist. He actually talks and listens and truly cares. Whenever I needed to speak with him outside of appointment hours, he IMMEDIATELY returned my phone call and spent as much time as I needed to come to a good plan of action to whatever I needed.

I have been seeing Dr. O'Connor for 2.5 years to manage depression. He is a man of exceptional expertise and compassion. He is very knowledgeable regarding medications, alert to multiple factors that can affect depression, and is a strong advocate for the mentally ill. He has never NOT been available when needed and has been actively available during several harrowing episodes. Bottom line: he is not just a pill-pusher.

This doctor has made a lot of mistakes. He is bad about returning calls and he does not have a receptionist. He has gone out of town for a week or two and he does not arrange a back-up doctor to handle calls. Or prescription refills from the pharmacy. Or whatever. He has incorrectly prescribed a med I've taken over 26 years and the results were bad. He has no hospital privileges so if I was hospitalized a completely different doctor who I have never seen and who has never seen me would be my doctor. There is no lab in his office so if your drug requires monitoring you'll be stuck with schlepping around to find an available lab. He does not like the lab that's available in his office bldg. And he gets upset if you go there. I guess convenience to his patient is not important. His background includes a bachelor degree in Dentistry. Yah, I think it's strange too.

My experience with Dr. O'Conner has been and continues to be a very good one. He has a very soft, yet professional approach. I have found him to be very current in terms of medication information and education. He is very patient and kind when I ask for further information on my diagnosis and/or treatment. He is very willing to work with me if the prescribed treatment is not working out. I trust his professionalism and would (and have) recommend him to anyone.

I have had 5 or 6 psychiatrists throughout the past 20+ years, and have found him to be, by far the best! He is current on types of treatments available, is willing to work with you, listens to your concerns and is readily available when you need him. He is kind, sincere and honest. I would highly recommend him.

Very professional, but caring. Willing to listen as long as the patient needs. Has knowledge of all medical issues.
