Kevin O'leary, MD

Very disappointed in the way I was treated and by the comments that were made during my son's last well check visit with Dr.O'leary. During the visit Dr.O'Leary asked me about my vaccination plan for my son and I stated that I am thoroughly reviewing the FDA inserts for each of the vaccines on the schedule and would make an INFORMED decision about what I felt comfortable with giving him at his next visit. Dr.O'leary sarcastically replied "don't go to down a rabbit hole" (as if extensively researching about the amount of aluminum and other chemicals in each of these shots and their side effects isn't paramount for every parent to be doing) and told me "I'd hate to say Weston was a great baby", clearly insinuating my son could die. He did not stop there, while examining my son he condescendingly addressed him and stated "you know what your mom does Weston, she just lets everyone else vaccinate their kid's so that you don't have to get any". After this very unprofessional and… inappropriate remark he addressed my 3 year old daughter saying " make sure your mom brings your brother back for his vaccines". Dr.O'leary was out of line and I am embarrassed for Scripps to have such a disgraceful provider caring for our precious children. I could respect a tactful and informed rebuttal but resorting to sarcasm and fear mongering is disgusting and childish. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for a provider who will firstly respect you as a parent and secondly has facts and data at the ready to use instead of fear tactics. You should be ashamed of yourself, Dr.O'leary.

My son's are now all in their teenage years which is why I switched to a male pediatrician. My first impression of Dr. O'Leary was "what a wonderful bed side manner". He didn't rush the appt. He took the time to listen to me and to my sons. He has a way of putting us all at ease even in the face of a heart defect that was detected on one of my sons. I don't live close to the office, but it is worth the long drive and traffic to know my sons are in good hands.
