Dr. Kevin J Schiller, DO

Dr. Schiller is a very a nice doctor and will answer any question you have. You do wait sometimes in the office, but I know he spends extra time with me sometime. so I understand. The thing that really aggravates me, is that they are the ONLY doctors office that does not answer any phone line at any time. The told me they will not not answer the pharmacy when they call, or any of my doctors who call his office line. It is frustrating when you don't feel well and it takes sometimes up to 5 hours to receive a call back. That is unacceptable!!

Yes, Dr. Schiller can sometimes a bit "more into" his computer and recording device than the patient, but he is fairly pleasant with a decent bed side manner. The office is clean...but my sincere advice is to watch out for the office manager (aka, his wife, Beth Schiller). She can be surprisingly rude, and unprofessional- clearly lacking patient communication skills. Case in point: I am asthmatic, and there was a problem with the Rx Dr. Schiller prescribed for my rescue inhaler. The pharmacy needs to resolve this with his office and insurance. I found this out after calling his office 2 times (the pharmacy line) with no response (they never pick up the phone by the way). The 3rd time, I called the "medical advice" line and left a message again. The Nurse Practitioner called me back and seemed apologetic, explaining she was working on the situation and it will be resolved asap as she understood my distress. I thanked her. All good...until Beth Schiller called me back blaming me for the… situation, for calling the medical advice line (I told her I called the pharm line with no luck) and saying it is my problem- it is not their responsibility to resolve it (untrue- the pharmacy said doc's office must resolve it). She was so rude, talking over me, etc., causing me even more distress on top of being asthmatic on a bad air quality day, that I had to make an irritated remark about her communications. She then (get this!) hangs up on me. I called back leaving a message saying that I hope this does not impact my chances of getting my rescue inhaler that I need right away (to supplement the prednisone Dr. Schiller prescribed given the urgency of tending to my asthma). I hope someone in Dr. Schiller's office does the right thing and closes this situation. We can then move on. I will then definitely look for a new doctor- hoping Stony Brook Medicine has a better option. This was the most unprofessional medical office experience I have ever had in my life giving me no choice but to rate the whole thing as poor.

I have been seeing Dr. Schiller since 2006. Another specialist referred me to him after having problems with other doctors. He is also one of the few doctors who sees his patients in the hospital. When I asked him why, He stated, “Because that is where my patients need me the most.” After a few years of staffing issues, they now have the most competent staff I have seen! They are friendly and caring, and they do return calls. You may have to leave a message, but someone always calls back. You may wait a bit, because you are not rushed out, and he will take any questions and concerns you have. I would definitely recommend him, and have!!

I have been a patient for a long time 10 + years and have found everyone to be very professional. Doctor Schiller is an excellent diagnostician and has taken very good care of me.

Very odd office. Debbie his wife is in the exam room you sir there while they debate his diagnosis. Very strange place - she is only the office manager. Why is she interfering with my care. Who needs to listen to a husband and wife quarrel about your health - not me!

This rating is for the doctor, read the end for office staff: My family and I have been seeing Dr. Schiller for a long time now, and he has a great bedside manner, especially when you are in the hospital. He is one of the only doctors that go to the hospital anymore. People seem to complain about him having his head in the computer, but that is the age we live in. I do agree that sometimes the tests ordered get to be a little much. He works well with all my other doctors, and that is important to my family and I. We have had a few problems with staff, and scheduling, being told that there is no way I can be seen, even with a fever! We get told often that there are no available appts. when the doctor wants to see you in a week. It usually ends up 2 weeks. Also, there have been a few HIPPA violations. I am giving him five stars, but the office 2! Years ago, all the reviews were 5 stars, but with the office staff now, there are almost no 5's.

He is a joke. Avoid at all costs! Triple-books patients, does not follow up. I had a bad UTI and I am had to call the office after I saw my lab report. Horrible staff and sub-par practice. Not going back.

Good to see him if you are healthy and in need of an annual check-up. If you heave serious health issues, find a more competent family practitioner.

Not somebody I would trust for a serious medical problem without going for a second opinion. Wrongly diagnosed my blood pressure and after getting a second opinion from another internist, I am only coming to see him when I have a flu
