Dr. Kevin Douglas Toon, MD

Dr. Toon sent me home after I was bitten by a dog who was not vaccinated against rabies. He said (verbatim) “you should be fine.” And he refused to treat me even though my husband and I asked for the rabies vaccine. We had to return to the ER the next day to receive the vaccine. If you get this doctor, refuse him.

Wasn't thorough and Very dismissive of emergency patient. I will never go back to Athens emergency room if this man is working there . I was having severe chest pain numbness in my arms and heart felt clinching pain. This guy was rude and dismissive

He saw my wife at the Piedmont Athens ER. Very dismissive of her complaints. She had concerns of acute flare ups of problems she had for years. Told her to see primary care since it’s a chronic problem even though these are acute flare ups. No tests done. Told my wife that the CT or MRI is for emergency. Complaints of pain not addressed. No medicine given at all for searing pain in her neck and head. Filed a complaint with Piedmont and will look into negligence.

I brought my boyfriend to the emergency room after days of dealing with pretty severe abdominal pain. Unfortunately for us, the emergency room doctor at the time was Dr. Kevin Toon. Never in my life have I felt more disrespected by a person, nonetheless a doctor, and I wasn’t even the patient. I understand that working in an emergency room is stressful and you get frustrating patients; however, Dr. Toon treated us like total idiots rather than patients at the EMERGENCY room with legitimate concerns. He was condescending, unpleasant, and hardly listened to my boyfriend’s issues without interrupting him. After we left Piedmont, I quickly looked into Dr. Kevin Toon online because I couldn’t possibly imagine he treats his other patients very well either. And surely enough, he has one star ratings and negative reviews across the board along with other patients who have similar experiences being seen by this “doctor.” So my question to Piedmont is, why do you continue to keep a… doctor on staff who treats your patients so poorly? In the future, if I ever need emergency medical attention I would AVOID this emergency room at all costs on the slight chance that I would have to be treated by such a rude an uncaring doctor. If you don’t know how to treat other HUMAN begins with decency and respect, especially a sick patient, please save us all and don’t be a doctor. I am so incredibly angry that Piedmont allows this man to treat ANYONE!

Don’t let this man treat you if you can. Refuse him and request someone else if you’re having a medical emergency. Whatever review you can find on “Dr Toon” will tell you the same. He’s an arrogant man who obviously doesn’t care at all. I’ve never had a doctor be so rude and disrespectful. He did absolutely nothing to help and me being there seemed to burden him even though I was in serious pain. He sent me home with no help. The fact I have to give him a 1 star is frustrating; I’d give him 0 if I could.

He does not care to listen to the patient. I understand people come in the E.R. with crazy things. And obviously don’t need to be here. I know staff gets busy. But you could at least treat your patients with some respect. And not laugh at them.

Dr. Toon saw my daughter in the emergency room at ARMC. She was covered in a terrible rash. He had no clue what was wrong with her,and made no effort to find out what was wrong with her. He did NOTHING for her and sent us home. After visiting our pediatrician the next morning, we found out that she had a life threatening reaction to an antibiotic. Our pediatrician was furious and immediately started her on high dosages of steroids. Very scary experience, and we are still, 10 months later, getting bills from "Dr" Toon. Pathetic waste of a medical license.
