Dr. Keyoumars Izadi, DDS

I’m sure there are great reviews for this surgeon from individuals who had a normal recovery however that has not been my experience. My recovery has been complicated but that’s not the basis of my review. My warning is how I have been spoken to and my concerns ignored. I left his office today in tears because yesterday I had dead tissue, yellow drainage, and continue to have a metallic taste on that side of my mouth. His response was to focus on lecturing me about stretching which I’m doing. It was like talking to a wall and I had to finally ask him to stop cutting me off and speaking over me like every visit because I haven’t been able to get a full sentence out. Since the dead tissue fell out of the wound yesterday he said he doesn’t see anything and continued his hyper focused lecture on stretching. Thankfully my dentist is putting me on an antibiotic for the infection now. Want to be treated with respect and listened to? Then he’s not your guy.

I was referred to Dr. Izadi by my long-time Periodontist at Synergy Periodontics. I had a soft palate lesion that was not going away and getting worse. I am in remission from cancer and have been very sick with autoimmune disease over the last 12 years so am considered "high risk". Dr. Izadi understood my situation immediately (very rare, trust me) and scheduled a biopsy. Biopsy, the healing process, etc. all went beautifully! (Again, very rare!) I can't say enough about Dr. Izadi and his staff. They are top notch.

I had two wisdom teeth removed by Dr Azadi Aug 2019. My first impression of Dr Azadi was that he is very nice and professional. I was relieved because I was able to get my X-rays and have the teeth removed all in one visit. I opted for just lidocaine and everything was completed rather quickly. When Dr Azadi was attempting to remove my 2nd tooth, I informed him I was feeling pain. He paused and injected more numbing medication that I oddly felt in my ear. I told him and he informed me it was just a sensation, not to worry and continued. Within moments my tongue and right side of my face (side he was working on) got numb. Again, I informed him and he was not concerned so neither was I. Within what felt like moments, he was completed and reported everything went well. I was relived as it was a rather “easy” experience for me. When he went to sit me up, I informed him I became pretty dizzy. He laid me back and stated that it was no problem, sometimes patients need a moment or two. He… then left the room. About 5-10 later he came in to check on me, sitting me up and the room was now spinning. I informed him and was laid back down for “a few more moments”. After maybe another 10 minutes my hands/feet became tingly, had ringing in my ears and my chest felt very heavy. I called out for someone and I’m assuming who was an assistant came in. I informed her that something was wrong and what my symptoms were and she went to get Dr Azadi. When he entered the room, he seemed a bit annoyed with me and asked (and I quote) “what’s wrong now?”. I explained how I was feeling and his response was “I believe you’re having a panic attack and your sugar is low, when did you last eat?”. It was currently 1130 and I ate at 8. I explained I have zero health issues and that I do not believe my sugar was low nor was I having a panic attack. Shortly after that, I do not remember anything until I came to at 4pm in the ER at Mary Washington. From this point on, it’s from what my mother told me. She was in the waiting room with my daughter. Dr Azadi initially came to inform her I was finished but feeling a bit dizzy and laying down a moment. An hour went by and the front desk kept telling her I was almost ready. She finally demanded to be taken back to see me, when they did she reported that I was hooked up to oxygen, EKG leads and an IV. Dr Azadi asked my mother if I were on any kind of drugs. She denied and he told her that I seem to be having a reaction and that I had low sugar. She said that she attempted to talk to me but I was very out of it and dry heaving continuously. Dr Azadi asked my mother if she wanted help getting me to the car.. she became very upset and demanded an ambulance be called and said if he didn’t, she would. Once at the hospital, I was diagnosed with Lidocaine Toxicity. I became aware of time around 4pm but the room was still spinning and if I moved at all I would begin dry heaving again. Finally around 6pm, I was able to stand with assistance by my husband and asked to go home. My discharge papers indicated my sugar was in the 200s on admission due to his treatment of my ‘low sugar’. (Normal range is 60-100) After getting my records from his office, no testing of my sugar PRIOR to treating my suspected “low sugar” was documented. I am a nurse but he wasn’t aware of that. I never inform my doctors because I truly believe we’re treated differently when they know. I knew my symptoms and what they indicated. He is an MD, he advertises himself this way because it makes you feel safer. He blatantly disregarded my symptoms. He did not act in my best interest. I would never feel safe with him treating me or anyone I care for again. Thankfully my outcome was okay. I have no complications or issues as a result (minus EXTREME fear of dental procedures now). However, with lidocaine toxicity, it could’ve been far worse and leaving me in his office improperly caring for me could’ve been deadly. I never received a bill. My paperwork stated something like “complimentary” or “doctor pay” when it came to the billing portion. I can’t remember now without looking back through it.

I was in serious distress when I saw dr Izadi yesterday. He was professional yet kind. He worked his magic quickly and competently when he numbed my mouth for the tooth extraction.(and I am a terrible dental patient). He extracted my tooth painlessly and did all this while risking his health during this corona virus situation. He is one of our unsung heros, as are his terrific staff. We are lucky too have him and his office workers in our community.

Do not go to Dr. Izadi for tooth implants. His office staff will tell you on the phone that the full mouth x-ray will cost $385 but fail to tell you until you get there that there is an additional charge of $97 for Dr. Izadi to read the x-ray and tell you what he wants to do. Dr. Izadi is “only a surgeon”; therefore, he does not make or place the final crown; he only implants the post and places a temporary cap on the post. So, your dentist will also charge for making and placing the permanent cap on the post. And, to top it all off, his office estimate includes “worst case scenario” in the event that he has to perform a bone graft, add guided tissue regeneration, and perform a ridge expansion—and the “worst case scenario” estimate for 2 teeth is due two weeks prior to surgery—a whooping $8443.00. You have to pay the total even if he doesn’t do all of the work—and his office staff does not tell you how you would get any of this money back. I just got scammed for $482.00.

If you are reading this because you are looking for an Oral Surgeon to perform an Extraction, your search is over. You should set up your appointment with Dr. Izadi today. I had a tooth which needed to be extracted and I was very scared of having it done. I had wisdom teeth removed several years ago by another doctor and it was very unpleasant so going in to have this done, I was extremely worried. I wasted time with all that worrying. The moment I walked in, the office staff was so welcoming and efficient in obtaining my necessary paperwork in addition to being so personable and friendly to deal with. The surgical assistant who took me back made me feel so at ease and had such a calming presence about her. And when Dr. Izadi came in, he greeted me with a smile and immediately those last remaining worries disappeared. He explained in detail what he would be doing and in what seemed like a blink of an eye he was done. I was amazed at how quickly and with no pain it was… completed. The overall experience was incredibly pleasant. Dr. Izadi even personally called me a few hours after I had left his office to check to see how I was doing. How many doctors do that these days? I will be recommending Dr. Izadi to all my family and friends and recommend him to anyone reading this.

I never recommend doctors. I started in the medical profession at age 17. I am also critical of every office I enter having taught medical assistants. I had an impacted wisdom tooth extracted. I have an implanted defibrillator/pacemaker. I was terrified. Oh my goodness! 10minutes and I was out of there. The staff was unbelievably efficient as well. Some pain for a short while day of surgery. Then none. I highly recommend this oral surgeon. Oh, by the way I am 81 years old

Dr. Izadi was the best he worked with me on everything called me to make sure I was doing okay. the surgery went great I was out like someone turned the lightswitch to my brain off. I had an implant for a molar that decided to migrate to my sinuses and must have been tired because it went on its side. He had to do direct sinus lift and fix an infection that took hold he talked to me right up to the time I went out. he is a very kind and generous soul. The medications help to keep me comfortable afterward. His staff was the greatest they kept me laughing. They laughed with me not at me. I can say I was really scared about the procedure. They kept me from worrying. I felt at ease the first step in the office. No wedgy from the underwear like the last time they helped me to the car both times they had to grab my shorts to keep me standing up. I was like a drunken sailor the first night in Port after a year at sea. I am telling everyone if you need implants or any other oral… surgery I would go to him the best ever I would give10 out of 5 if I could in all areas.

Dr. Izadi did a great job for my implants. He himself called me at home after the procedure to ensure everything was alright and to make sure I recovered from the surgery. I was able to have all my questions answered and will have the next phase done next month. Plus he worked with metlife insurance to keep the costs down to the lowest out of pocket expenses. If you need this type of services you can never go wrong with seeing him for oral needs.
