Dr. Khaldoun Jamal Alkayed, MD

Dr. Khaldoun Alkayed is truly one of the best pediatricians I have ever encountered. He is incredibly patient, kind, and genuinely dedicated to his patients. What stands out most is how deeply he remembers his patients, not just their names but their history, their medical needs, and what is going on in their lives. I am a mother to two boys, one of whom is virtually nonverbal and autistic, and Dr. Alkayed has never made my son feel "less than" because he communicates differently. His respect, patience, and gentle approach are rare and so deeply appreciated. My son always feels safe with him, even during challenging moments. Dr. Alkayed consistently goes above and beyond. Earlier this year my younger son had a head injury from a ceiling fan and required ER treatment. When I later brought in only my older son, Dr. Alkayed still remembered to check on my youngest. He asked about the healing, gave guidance on minimizing scarring, and made sure everything was progressing well. After my… older son underwent hip surgery, he followed up regularly, even outside of appointments, to ask how recovery was going and how his pain levels were improving. Every appointment, no matter which child is scheduled, he checks in on both of them. I never have to remind him; he simply remembers. He walks me through every test, every medication option, and every vaccination, explaining possible side effects and what to expect. He offers thoughtful recommendations that are tailored to each of my sons, including for my oldest who is also working hard on his weight. His compassion and realism make such a meaningful difference. It is extremely rare to find a doctor who understands autistic children, communicates with them respectfully, and remains so patient even during difficult behaviors. Dr. Alkayed is all of that and more. I recommend him wholeheartedly to any parent, especially parents of autistic children, because he treats every child with dignity, understanding, and genuine care. He is an exceptional doctor, and we are so grateful for him.
