Dr. Khalid Mazhar Syed, MD

I’ve been seeing Dr. Syed for years. Purely because it’s hard to find a local rheumatologist. But throughout the years I’ve learned that the appts are very rushed, he’s not attentive to what you tell him, he talks over you & when your having flare ups and you need your doc the most the office is always booked up and nothing available for months. If you have concerns over medications and side effects he tries to tell you it’s all in your mind! It’s unfortunate but he’s really not the right doc for someone who has such a debilitating disease. Why do I need flow up appts every 3 mos but yet in the meantime when I’m not feeling well and having serious flare ups “oh sorry he’s booked for the next 3 mos”. My insurance pays a lot for my care and I don’t deserve to be rushed through every visit. And he never takes the time to explain why he would recommend it this or that medication.

Where Dr... Syed was at first very kind and welcoming and seemed to be very knowledgable, when i really needed him he passed me on to another doctor making me feel hurt and not worth looking into. This is too bad because i really thought he was the one that would help me

Dr. Syed is kind, patient, intelligent, welcoming.

A most attentive physician. He reads info of any reports on file. Asks questions re current ongoing medical issues. Discusses recommendations.

Dr. Syed seemed annoyed/cold during my entire visit. Ignored a picture I bought him of my swollen hand and told me, "it's not swollen today." Duh. That's why I bought along a picture, to show how it LOOKED. Ignored the fact that I have arthritis in my spine (confirmed by 3 separate doctors) and said my problem was most likely fibromyalgia. Got defensive when I told him where the pain was and what it felt like, telling me, "who told you that you have ___?" Had to tell him on one occasion that what I'd just told him was CONFIRMED on my MRI that he had right in front of him. Ignored many other things as well. So much so that I don't trust his conclusion and will cheerfully be going to another doctor instead of him and hope to never visit him again.

Took time to discuss issues, spoke clearly about treatments, offered options and followed up diligently.

Dr Syed is the most caring Dr. I have ever met, I call him my angel. He always goes that extra step; and he even calls to see how you are doing. I would and have recoimmended him to friends.

Dr. Syed was very caring and knowledgeable and I felt very comfortable wth him.

This doctor was extremely dismissive and curt. I considered his bahavior rude. He discounted my experience, questioned my motive in even seeing him, and, though I am experiencing a new and painful health issue, he had me in and out of his office in 11 minutes. That equals over $30 per minute with what I was charged. He offered me no information on this health issue and even remarked that " it looks like you've been looking up symptoms on the internet.." I would never recommend him and will be writing the hospital administration about my experience.
