Dr. Khendra Iman Peay, MD

Dr. Peay was my daughter's psychiatrist from 8th grade until last June when she was 25 years old. My daughter loved her and had confidence that the only person she could trust with her mental health was Dr. Peay and often made decisions on where she would live based on her ability to have access to her. In June of 2025, my daughter had a seizure likely tied to medication prescribed by Dr. Peay that may or may have not been due to her taking it incorrectly. The seizure caused her to aspirate and have a severe case of ARDS that put her in the ICU on a ventilator for 3 weeks and on ECMO for another 3 weeks and she almost didn't survive. Throughout this ordeal Dr. Peay completely ghosted us. When my daughter first had the seizure Dr. Peay responded to my initial call asking her to contact the hospital with details about my daughter's medications, but after the first few days they were no longer able to contact her and she wouldn't return any phone calls from the hospitals or myself.… We never accused Dr. Peay of wrong doing and instead just needed her to help us understand what may have gone wrong. The information she had was critical for the hospital to understand the potential cause for the seizure and they couldn't reach Dr. Peay at all..!! When my daughter finally woke up and had her Trach removed so she could talk and asked what happened to her, one of the first things she wanted to know was what Dr. Peay thought happened and what she thought we should do. We had to explain to her that we hadn't been able to reach Dr. Peay and she was completely devastated and traumatized that the doctor she had placed so much faith in deserted her at the most critical time in her life. It was heartbreaking to have to tell her that information because we were aware of much she trusted and depended on her doctor. It has been almost 7 months and Dr. Peay has not once reached out to check on my daughter and still does not return our calls. I cannot describe the impact this has had on my daughter's mental health, which is insult to injury after all she has been through. It is horrific that Dr. Peay acted in this manner with a patient she had worked with for over 10 years. Do not trust you child's mental health with this doctor..!! Be warned..!!!!

Dr. Peay and her office have not responded to multiple requests for medication support or follow up appointments. This is a VERY poorly managed office.

My son has been to several psychiatrists over the past six years and our overall experience has been very positive. Dr. Peay is caring and takes her time to listen to my son and to me as well. She has helped my son considerably and I would highly recommend her for your childs behavioral health issues.
