Dr. Kiana Panbechi

Dr. Panbechi is a very thorough and kind physician, and she’s quite knowledgeable when it comes to physical health. However, I found her approach to postpartum depression lacking in understanding and support. During a particularly difficult time mentally, she recommended that I return to work, believing that being around people would help. While that may be beneficial for some, I was working in a busy, high-stress ER — an environment that only intensified my symptoms. Dr. Panbechi initially offered me just two weeks off, but I was ultimately granted a full month by another doctor who better understood my situation. Because Dr. Panbechi did not support the extended leave, she also declined to assist with the disability paperwork, explaining that time off was not her recommendation. This left me without financial support at a time when I truly needed it and ultimately forced me to return to work before I felt emotionally ready. Additionally, during my time off, I reached out multiple… times for guidance, but she did not return my calls until just a few days before I was scheduled to go back to work. This left me feeling unsupported and alone during one of the most vulnerable times of my life. While I do believe she has good intentions and is capable in many areas, I sincerely hope she takes time to better understand postpartum depression and how isolating and debilitating it can be for her patients.
