Be careful and know before receiving any services how your services will be billed and whether or not your medical insurance will pay for the services they recommend. If you see Dr Castleberry, since he is a specialist, if he tells you he is monitoring any kind of medical condition they will bill your medical insurance for office visits and retinal and sensorimotor exams rather than VSP. VSP fully covers these services and all I should have had to pay was a small copay. But if your health insurance company doesn’t cover the vision charges you may be billed 100% like I was. My bill that VSP would have paid and my health insurance did not was $259. Of course Dr Castleberry’s office doesn’t tell you this before providing those services.

Dr. Castleberry has greeted me enthusiastically for 13 years. He has all the latest equipment to examine eyes. When I had no central vision, he referred me to a retina specialist. Dr. Castleberry monitored my vision when I had glaucoma and cataracts. He referred me to a cataract surgeon to replace the cataracts for lens. Also, my eyelids drooped so much, I couldn't see very well. Dr. Castleberry referred me to an ocular plastic surgeon to remove the bags over my eyes, and lift the bags for better vision.

DOES NOT ACCEPT SUPERIOR VISION INSURANCE (WEBSITE SAYS CASTLEBERRY DOES). As a prospective first-time client, I signed-up for an appointment on the website. I checked the website AND my vision insurance to make sure Plano Eye Associates accepted my plan and both indicated an affirmative. Two business-days prior to my appointment, I received a voicemail asking for my insurance information. 28 hours before my appointment, I emailed the email address listed on Plano Eye Associates website with my insurance information. I showed up to my appointment, where the front-desk employee asked for my insurance. She then informed me Castleberry does not accept my plan, contrary to what is published on the website. The doctors here are only as strong as the weakest support staff, and in my opinion and experience, someone on the staff team dropped the ball. I am not returning and will seek care elsewhere.
