Dr. Kim Jeffrey Horowitz, MD

This person misdiagnosed me and yelled at me to boot. Told me I was " just menapausal" and my symptoms were psychosomatic. He was wrong, of course, but it took a long time for me to get the courage to see an actual doctor. My buddy Joe isn't around to tell you that this guy diagnosed him as having bronchitis for several years. By the time another doctor took xrays, it was too late. Lung cancer... avoid kim horowitz. I would think twice before using this Doctor for starters his office staff is rude. Back in 2013 our normal family doctor was unavailable I had broke out in some strange rash and really didn't feel like setting in the emergency room so I made an appointment to see Dr Horowitz whom was told was a great doctor to see for allergies and such I had a total of two appointments on my second appointment I had forgotten my wallet I worked for the local school district I had very good medical insurance so I had a very small co-pay $20 since I forgot my wallet I asked the girl at the counter to send me a bill she seemed to be a little reluctant but agreed. I did receive a bill a few weeks later in the mail and like I do with most mail items it gets tossed on the desk not giving it much thought I figured I would pay it next time I went in but as everybody knows life gets busy and hectic raising children, working and all it I can honestly say it slipped my mind I wasn't trying to get out of… paying the $20 copay lol. About two months later I receive a collection notice from a company that's notoriously horrible the notice indicated that I owed $57 to Sierra Family Care. I called the collection agency and I asked if the co-pay was $20 why do I owe $57 they claimed it was interest added on I asked if Sierra Family Care instructed them to collect interest they said no that was interest they tacked on. I explain to them that I didn't owe them interest because they weren't the owner of the debt that Sierra Family Care and Dr Horowitz was they said if I had a problem to call the doctor's office. So I did I told them I had gotten the collection notice and I apologize for forgetting about paying the bill that I would like to take care of it and that the collection was trying to double the amount owed I was told by them that once it goes to collections its out of their hands and they cannot accept any payment. They confirmed that it was a $20 copay but did not know why the collection agency was trying to collect $57 and that I need to take it up with them. Lol so after several back-and-forth phone calls and a few letters written I told the collection agency that I would gladly pay the amount that I owed and not a penny more and they refused to take anything less than what they are reporting and that was the $57. Since the doctor office wouldn't let me pay them and the agency was trying to collect double the amount I decided to not pay it I was not going to be bullied by a rogue collection company clearly violating the law reporting and trying to collect more than the amount that's actually due. Fast forward 5 1/2 years, our family doctor announced his retirement so my wife started searching for a new local family doctor not for myself but for her and our children because my new doctor is a specialist and located in a different town nearby. She called Sierra Family Care and spoke with the receptionist and ask if they were taking on new patients that our family doctor was retiring she was told yes so she gave her name her insurance information at that point the lady she spoke to told her oh I'm sorry we can't go forward with this you'll need to have your husband give us a call. Of course my wife is very confused because she couldn't understand why I would have to call them in order for her to set up appointments for her and our children so she asked why they needed me to call and she was told that it was a private matter and could not be discussed with her. My wife called me told me what had transpired so I said I'll give them a call. I called spoke with the same lady she spoke with and to my surprise I was told that Dr. Horowitz & Sierra Family Care would not allow my wife or children to be seen there because I had been taken to collections. I told the girl that I was familiar with that and its been over 5 years and the reason that its was never paid was because I had initially forgot to pay it and again I apologize for that mistake I told her once I became aware of the fact that it went to collections I tried to clear it up but the collection agency was trying to double charge me and to this day they are still reporting it as a matter fact it's the only thing reported negative on my credit report that I owe Dr. Horowitz $57 I told her that once I got the bill I tried to call and cleared it up with them and their office refuse to take payment they told me to deal with a collection agency when I called the collection agency and told them I was not going to pay more than I legally owed they told me deal with the doctor so it was this back-and-forth thing that got exhausting very quickly and I just walked away from the whole situation. I had no problem paying it but was not going to be double charged. She informed me that it was the doctor's policy that if a patient was ever taken to collections that the patient and their family would be barred from service, LOL I said okay there are plenty other doctors in this town we don't need to come to this facility. Then I asked her why they refuse to take my payment when I tried pay it a couple years back she tried to tell me that once it goes to collections they have no control over what the collection agency does and that's why they refuse to let me come in and pay the, LOL not true I told her that Dr Horwitz at anytime could tell the collections agency to stop collecting the debt and stop trying to double the amount owed. She again told me what the policy was and if I had an issue with to speak to the Dr ,10 minutes later Dr Horowitz got on the phone I thanked him for taking my call I explained the situation to him he proceeded to tell me that his policy is exactly what I was told that if his patients can't respect him and his practice by paying what they owe then he refuses to treat them or their family which is completely his prerogative but I explained to him tha

Been going here for about 15 years have waited in the waiting room 1+ hours and then the exam room 1+ hours. They don't know how to weight or measure infants. The staff is rude the doctor is rude the physician assistants are decent if you can get past the rest of environment or if they don't kick you out for complaining. They wanted to reschedule an appointment because paper work needed to be completed and your not allowed to do that in the office which is really frustrating when you take time off of work for your appointment.

I am in a very difficult situation trying to detox off of pain meds. I coordinated with all of my docs before undergoing rapid opiate detox. No doctors will helps me. I am not getting better. They all say go to the other guy, and by the way pay your co-pay on the way out. U.S. Medical Care is the worst in the world. Oh and if you have medicare this guy won't see you.
