Dr. Kim Lenice Thornton, MD

While Boston IVF is an excellent facility, Dr. Thornton is horrible. I was under her care for a year with no success. At a consult appointment she told me she didn't know why my treatment wasn't working. I then sought a second opinion from another doctor within the practice. That doctor looked at my treatment plan and explained that I was insufficiently medicated to support implantation to the point that we wouldn't even count one of my treatment cycles as a "trying-to-get-pregnant" cycle. I resumed treatment under the care of the new doctor who added progesterone shots to my medical regiment. I got pregnant (with twins!) on the first treatment cycle under the new doctor's care. While I realize this may in part be luck, I found it asinine of Dr. Thornton to not put me on the progesterone shots as, in retrospect, such shots seem to be standard protocol for infertility treatment. Please do not trust your fertility with her!

Dr. Thornton was caring - easy to talk to - and the best.. i'm pregnant! My husband and I always felt confident that she was running the correct protocol with meds. We were so lucky to have found Dr. Thornton and Boston IVF. Her nurse was fantastic and communicated everything to us. I never found myself waiting to hear from her. As difficult as this process is, the staff as Boston IVF made every thing "easy".

After 3 1/2 years of IUIs and in vitro, 3 miscarriages and zero answers, I finally decided to split with my old clinic and try Boston IVF after some research. Within the first 20 minutes of my consult with Dr. Thornton, she asked, "Do you have any other health problems besides mild PCOS?" I responded, "I don't have that." Turns out I do and my old clinic just never thought it was relevant enough to mention. I can't tell you how relieved I was to have a Dr. give me such a definitive answer and seem confident that they could address it. After discussing some tweaking she planned to do with my meds for my next cycle, she concluded the appt. by saying, "You will get pregnant and carry to term. I can't promise you how many tries it will take, but it WILL happen." I left feeling like I was on the right track. My cycle went smoothly and I was monitored far less than at my previous clinic. At first it made me a little nervous because I have always had the tendency to hyperstim,… but they truly knew what they were doing. I'm now pregnant, safely past the "danger zone," with twins. Does Dr. Thornton seem like the most sweet, compassionate person in the world? Maybe not. She's not really a teddy bear. While it may have been nice to have her hold my hand and be a little more sensitive when discussing my very painful track record, I'm not there to have a therapist. I'm there to get pregnant. Listen, this woman knows her stuff and if results are what you're looking for, look no further. On a side note, the staff was great. The receptionist in Worcester, Jean, was a total sweetheart and really on the ball. She'd take care of scheduling, insurance stuff, or in my case, FMLA paperwork incredibly quickly and always seemed eager to go the extra mile. In the Waltham office, I accidentally left my inhaler there the day of egg retrieval and someone actually called and said since she lived in my area (about 45 minutes away), she could drop it off to me on her way home. Who does that?! But back to Dr. Thornton. I really can't recommend her highly enough. Even after I was discharged to a normal people OB (yay), she offered to be available for any questions that may arise and made me promise to bring the twins by the office. 3 1/2 years with another Dr. with no results. 1 cycle with Dr. Thornton and my family is complete. Just saying.

We have wasted sooo much time, energy, emotions and of course other resources! She only wants to push IVF, nothing else! She NEVER arrives on time, rushes through appointments, doesn't fully listen to your concerns and simply fails to live up to her hypocratic oath!!! GO ELSWHER

I went to this doctor for my IVF cycles. She never monitored my Clinical Visits and someone else on her behalf was covering for her. Its literally putting yourself into wrong hands if you go to her and i will not recommend going to her yet all.

She is knowledgeable I'm sure, but her bedside manner and caring have a lot to be desired. She did not know who we were or what treatment we were doing whenever we had a consult, even after 1 year of care.

I saw Dr. Thornton for fertility treatments as she came highly recommended. My first impression was that she came across cold, but i wanted someone for their expertise not necessarily for their bedside manner. Well I should have listened to my instincts. After 6 IUI's(I miscarried one of the IUI's, but she felt that I should continue because I became pregnant) and 2 IVF cycles(also both ended in miscarriages). I had explained to Dr. Thornton that I had always had issues with my blood since I was a child, she stated in a very abrubt way "that has nothing to do with it!" I decided to seek treatment elsewhere. I thank God everyday that I did because my husband and I have 2 beautiful children. The doctor that I went to really listened to me and found out that my blood issues had EVERYTHING to do with me not being able to carry a pregnancy, and he treated it correctly!
