Dr. Kim Bruce Yancey, MD

Dr. Yancy is a skilled physician, very responsive and spends the time needed to explain the disease and treatments. I highly recommend him.

Diagnosed with MRSA over a year ago, I was sent to UTSW to get treatment from the supposedly top place in DFW. It may be the top place, but the treatment of me was ridiculous. First diagnosis was told to me very confidently, only it was wrong. Infectious disease doctor later requested a biopsy to test for things that hadn't yet been tested for. He refused, but had resident tell me so I couldn't find out why. He also prescribed treatment that I had tried and failed with another doctor the previous year. I pointed this out and the resident told me "well, WE haven't tried it." So later, I end up back at my regular dermatologist, who said his decision was driven by his ego. My family doctor was very upset and asked where was "the patient's best interest", another doctor said I should report him, and of course the infectious disease doctor just had to shrug her shoulders. As it turned out, the biopsy and culture showed bacteria that the medicine Dr. Yancey prescribed wouldn't have helped,… so she changed my antibiotic. So I decide to go back for my follow up with no intention of going back. I was pleasant and sheepishly told them I had the biopsy and that it showed the medicine they prescribed needed to be changed. But the MRSA on my chest was still severe. The resident, in consultation with Dr. Yancey, told me they didn't need to see me anymore. My chest was in horrible shape, so this decision was purely because the doctor's feelings were hurt. As the head of the practice, I would strongly advise anyone against going to UTSW for dermatology issues. The hospital has an excellent reputation, but the care I received was terrible.
