Instead of calling me in to address this unusual, complex blood profile, I was sent a completely generic, automated portal message summarizing the results with zero clinical concern or context. Taking my health into my own hands, I tracked my progress and requested a repeat test three months later in June. The A1C result was exactly the same—yet, complete radio silence from my doctor. The real frustration began three months after that, when I requested another routine follow-up check. Suddenly, I was… blocked and told that Dr. Ariza insisted on a mandatory video consultation before any further blood work could be ordered. When I directly challenged her asking why she was suddenly deeply concerned about data from half a year ago that she initially ignored, she brushed me off with a generic excuse that she has too many patients and is too busy. As a highly health-conscious person, I came to the table with solutions and actively requested a prescription for a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to track my actual daily blood sugar patterns. She flat-out refused to write it. This entire appointment was a sham. I didn't get a consultation because of a medical necessity; I triggered a system automated algorithm or a chart-review metric that flagged my file for a billable visit. Dr. Ariza didn't see a human being struggling to optimize her metabolic and cellular health, she saw a patient file number needed to satisfy an insurance or clinic quota. It is incredibly discouraging to bring maximum effort to your own health choices only to be met by a physician providing minimal, bureaucratic effort in return.
