Dr. Kimberly L. Kjome, MD

I have been chronically homeless for 20 years. I have been given multiple diagnoses and have struggled with hearing voices and severe mood swings with life threatening depressions. While on a housing waiting list I was got my apartment. I don't know why but while I was staying in a homeless shelter right before I got my housing I wanted to believe there was hope so I reached out to my social worker who had me involuntarily committed to Shoal Creek. Dr. Kjome took the time to really listen to me and talk to me about my options. She read all of my medical records to find medications that I had never been on before. She was open to discussing alternative treatment options and she is now the only person I trust to change my medications. I feel very strongly against taking lithium but I trust her with my life and she is the only person at this point in my life to put me on that drug.

Maxes out insurance, prescribes a lot of medication, and seems unaffected by the suicide attempts of her patients. Works shoal creek so the cops bring her a steady stream of captive clients. Everyone brought in & assigned to her is diagnosed as bipolar. Without a doubt the bottom of the barrel for MDs in Austin. Uses the court system to hold patients for 6 months against their will and tries to convince family members to agree to the financial cost - literally parents are losing their homes Bc of this. She's a Financial predator

I think he was absolutely great given the setting. She was very personable, sweet and kind, for an institutional psychiatrist. I did agree with the return to work that but it was the one that worked with her that signed so who knows for sure.
