Dr. Mezera is a 1987 graduate of the University of North Texas and received her medical degree from UT Southwestern …Medical School in Dallas. She did her orthopedic residency training at UT Southwestern and Parkland Memorial Hospital. She then completed additional specialty fellowship training in the area of hand and upper extremity surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery and The New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center in New York City. She was awarded the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons traveling fellowship and spent additional time in England learning adult and pediatric hand surgery from internationally acclaimed hand and upper extremity surgeons. Dr. Mezera returned to Dallas and taught residents at a top trauma center for several years before joining the Hand and Upper Extremity Center.
Honored by D Magazine and Texas Monthly for the past several years as a top doctor, she is also a graduate of the highly sought after Young Leaders in Hand Surgery Program through The American Society for Surgery of the Hand. She presently serves on several national committees for the Hand Society and is actively involved in the American Orthopedic Association and the World Symposium on Congenital Malformations of the Hand and Upper Limb. She also serves as faculty for the highly respected AO international organization which is dedicated to research and education in orthopedic trauma and fracture care. Dr. Mezera serves as a consultant reviewer for the esteemed Journal of Hand Surgery and has authored many textbook chapters and articles in the field of hand surgery. She is a noted lecturer in her field.
