Kimberly Spurlock, DO

I am in the healthcare field and I am always pretty critical of the physicians I see. I really liked her and felt comfortable with the care and treatment she provided. She seems to be very knowledgeable and so far, seems to care about the well being of her patients.

Dr. Spurlock is competent, professional, kind and caring... once you are finally able to get an appointment. She does not allow time in her day for work-ins, so if you are sick and need to see a doctor you have to go to an Urgent Care or Emergency Room. I am very disappointed in this and would love to be able to see her when I sick but have been unable to do this.

Abuse of prescription medication is rampant in the Charleston area, however Dr. Spurlock is no nonsense when it comes to pain meds. As a patient with legitimate medical problems, I appreciate not sharing her available appt hours with drug seekers. The only complaint I have about the office is the amount of signs EVERYWHERE with the rules of the office, regarding prescriptions, missed appts. refills on controlled substances, insurance coverage, use of cell phones, etc. There are TOO MANY of them and they make the office staff seem very unapproachable and unfriendly. I think a better option might be to print them all up on handouts, make the new patient read and intial it and tuck it into the patient's chart. If the patient needs reminders, then do it verbally. The signs EVERYWHERE are ugly and make the office seem very lower class and unprofessional. I really like Dr. Spurlock and her staff but I absolutely HATE the office atmosphere. The signs make me feel as though I have done… something wrong the minute I walk in.
