Dr. Kimberly Yvonne Verhoef, MD

I came to Dr. Verhoef at the absolute lowest point in my life, tragically. She saved my life literally. I would not be here if it weren't for my husband and Dr. Verhoef. My depression and anxiety took me down a very dark road!! On my first visit, she told me that we would do all that it takes to get me better and to become a better version of myself. Would take time, and I would be the same person, but I could get better. I owe her my life and will always be grateful to her.

This doctor is heartless and condescending. I have never been treated with less respect as a patient and a person.

I had been a patient of Dr. Verhoef for about two years. The visits with her lasted five to fifteen minutes and I got the impression she was trying to push drugs and kick me out the door as soon as possible. I tried to give her a chance. I questioned each judgment, but it got to the point where I just didn't trust her or think that she cared very much. I have an anxiety disorder and some depression. I had been doing fine on meds for those conditions, but she kept pushing antipsychotics like Abilify and Seroquel, which are very expensive. The former made me seriously ill, causing lack of appetite and nausea, dyskinesia, and a general feeling that systemically, everything was off in my body. It took me a month to get this drug out of my system. There were weeks where I couldn't get any food down due to my dysphagia and dry mouth. Things are better now, and have been for quite some time, but I got the feeling that Dr Verhoef was not listening to me, or affirming my progress, when everyone… else in my life was. She just wanted to give me more drugs. As I walked out the door, she handed me a prescription for Seroquel, a drug that costs 675/ month for the generic, saying "this will make you happier." Now, I understand saying, "This may help you. Let me know if you see improvement...or not." The definitive answer she gave me was neither professional nor helpful. I felt thoroughly disrespected and patronized and I soon terminated care.
