Dr. Kirby Joseph Guidry, DDS

Dr. Kirby Guidry is a native of Cecilia, Louisiana.
He graduated at Cecilia High and served in the United States Marine Corp for three years. In 1963, at Loyola University School of Dentistry in New Orleans, he completed and earned his dental studies. As a dental student he received two Honorary Scholastic Dental Society Awards, Omirron Kappa Upsilon and the C. Victor Vignes Odontological Society. He was also selected to appear in the 1962-1963 Edition of Who’s Who among students in American University of the South. After practicing five years of general dentistry in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Dr. Guidry was admitted to the orthodontic program at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
After two years of studies, Dr. Guidry received a Master of Science in Dentistry. The completion of this program included the necessary requirements for the specialty in Orthodontics, of which he has been engaged since 1970. He is a member of the (AAO) American Association of Orthodontics.
Since …being in Lafayette he has been the president of the local Dental Society, member of the Acadian Cleft Palate Team, member of the Lafayette Craniofacial and Congenital Anomaly Clinic. He’s the co-founder of the first licensed outpatient Surgery Center in the state of Louisiana, and also the organizer of the first outpatient dental program with fifty participating dentists, held at the old charity hospital site. The dental program was a charitable clinic for the disadvantaged. He was a professional member of the 232-HELP, a local community help center for the underprivileged. He is also an associate professor in the Physical Medicine Department at Baylor University School of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
