Dr. Kirk Patrick Burgamy, MD

I saw Dr. Burgamy in the ER and he was kind, compassionate, and listened to my problems. He helped me figure out what was wrong and how to take care of it. I was so happy with my experience, which is not always the case in the ER. I wish there were more doctors like him!

He is a good doctor and takes all the tests necessary to diagnose patients. I went to the ER with hypoglycemia and this was my 4th time in the ER in my life for this problem. I do not have diabetes so this is bizarre. Every time I went to the ER in the past the docs just gave me an IV and then discharged me after an hour, but they never told me what was wrong. Dr. Burgamy, however, ran a lot of tests on me and discovered that I have a tumor in my pancreas that is producing too much insulin that causes hypoglycemia. So now I finally know whats wrong with me. My only complaint with Dr. Burgamy is that he doesn't spend enough time with his patients. I know he is a busy doctor with other patients to handle, but I felt kind of rushed with him. Out of the 7 hours I spent in the ER, I only saw him about 5 minutes. After he told me about my diagnosis, I spent another hour in the hospital recovering, and then a nurse came in to discharge me. I was a little confused. I would have preferred if… the doctor came in to discharge me and give me instructions on what I should do next. Its not a big deal because I suppose he assumed that I will discuss my condition more with my PCP. Still, it would've been more comforting to have him discharge me and reassure me I'm ok, and give me an idea of what I should expect in the future with my disease.

I met Dr. Burgamy at the AV ER when my daughter got a little bead stuck in her nose. Dr. Burgamy was very caring. AV ER is one of the busiest ER in Southern Cali but he made sure that he checked on us and made sure that we were doing ok. Thank you Dr. Burgamy.
