Dr. Kirk Edward Hofmann, MD

I took my dad (99 years old)to Community ER today. I was very impressed with his care. His nurses were friendly and did a great job. Dr. Hoffman was in the room before we had a chance to sit down! He went through various questions, did tests, talked and listened to dad's issues. He left feeling much better and his mind at ease. I would recommend Community and Dr. Hoffman for great care. Thank you.

I never got to speak a full sentence without getting interrupted by Dr. Hoffman, who entered my exam room before I spoke with a nurse or had updated vitals taken. I was sent to the ER by my PCP after a month of being unsuccessfully treated for pneumonia. He said my O2 sats were fine when I checked in at the lobby and that I just had a virus (I had just had an albuterol treatment but he would not let me speak to tell him that). His assertion that I had a virus, not pneumonia was made before he entered the room and was not based on any test he performed or ordered. He did not look at my notes from my PCP where he could have seen earlier O2 sats in the low 90s (without albuterol), my pneumonia diagnosis, or the suggestion to go to the ER for IV abx since PO had not been working. I told him my ear was also throbbing and he said my ear was fine. He said the nurse would be in with discharge instructions since he had gotten to my exam room before her. My eardrum ruptured upon… arriving home and I'm following my doctor's orders to go in for IV antibiotics at a different hospital. My private insurance requires that we pay $400 for any ER visit not ending in admission. I knew this would be the case when going in for IV abx but realized the ER was the only place to have this need met. I expected more than 45 seconds with a doctor. I will be calling the hospital after I am done at a different ER to try and fight any charges for this visit and will alert my insurance that emergency services were not rendered by this physician. The only other time I had been to the ER was for a ruptured appendix six years prior so it's not like I'm an ER frequent flyer who he had just decided to not take seriously. He does not value his patients. He is a bad doctor.
