Dr. Kirk Andrew Thame, MD

I saw Dr. Thames when I was 16 after we were referred to him from the ER. First and foremost, he is possibly the nicest doctor I've ever had. I'm 21 now and in need of a new GI and I'm so sad that I can't see him anymore!! I'd had gastroparesis/functional dyspepsia for eight years and no one was able to figure it out until Dr. Thames - and I saw a LOT of general practitioners. He helped me out as best he could, but treating such a rare condition can be tricky, so we ended up finding an alternative treatment that helped more than what he could offer. But he was so nice about it! He was so excited to know that I found something that finally gave me relief, and I remember the smile on his face when he said he would have to discharge me since he technically wasn't helping anymore. Definitely not the type of doctor who's going to keep trying to get money out of you; he genuinely only wants what's best for his patients. Absolutely not knocking his skill though - I know that no other doctor… would've been able to help me either. It's just one of those conditions where most medications don't usually help anyways. If I could give him ten stars, I absolutely would! Being faced with these tests and this diagnosis could've been really scary at 16, but he was so warm and kind and he always took the time to explain everything I needed to know. His help literally changed my life, and the diagnosis and understanding he gave me has made it infinitely easier to manage my condition and its many side effects.

I really can not find the words to describe the service and health care of Dr. Thame and his staff as well as the overall facility they really went and go above and beyond I will and have recommended them very highly!!!!!!

My child was under his care for nearly two years. After performing a thorough scope and taking numerous biopsies he gave the conclusive diagnosis of ulcerative colitis. Again, a year later this procedure was performed with the same conclusive results. When all forms of treatment had failed, she was placed on 6-mp (chemo) for treatment which had disastrous effects. She soon had to have a feeding tube, she continued to loose weight, at this time I had to beg for her to be admitted to the hospital. The department head stepped in and had her admitted. He then stated she did not have ulcerative colitis, but anastomosis ulcers because the chemo did not work. Long story short...after her case was reviewed by a team of specialist it was found that not only did she have ulcerative colitis, but crohn's as well, which he clearly stated twice that she did not have. My child is now in intestinal failure, she has a central line and is totally dependent upon TPN for her survival and is currently… losing blood from an unknown source.
