Kirsten A. Butz, MD

Kirsten Butz, M.D. is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in metabolic psychiatry at the Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at Rapid City Hospital. Dr. Butz provides psychiatric and behavioral services for bariatric and weight management patients including comprehensive evaluation and consultation, individual treatment and maintenance intervention.

Dr. Butz completed her medical degree at Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota and her residency at the University of Virginia Health Systems in Charlottesville, VA. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She has transitioned between inpatient and outpatient psychiatric populations throughout her career.

Dr. Butz is a native South Dakotan living in Rapid City with her husband, an anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician, and their 3 young daughters.
