Dr. Konstantin V Slavin, MD

Dr. Slavin was my 4th "second opinion" for back pain, and offered a fresh perspective with a clear explanation of his thinking, and a clear explanation of why the other surgeons--orthopedic surgeons-proposed the surgeries they recommended. His was the least invasive, and it did the job for me (whew!!!). Great bedside manner, great support staff as well.

Dr Slavin comes highly recommended by many....he just did not do his job with my sons condition. Another follow up neuro surgeon diagnosed his problem correctly with a simple MRA scan......something Dr Slavin should have done while treating us and BEFORE he preformed a surgery that had little chance of success. Maybe best thing the Dr Slavin did for us was tell us he could do nothing more for my son....which caused us to look elsewhere.

He was highly recommended by another doctor so we took our mom there when we were told she had a brain tumor. We went to Chicago IL hospital that he is out of and hospital is horrible .....he performed surgery to removed the tumor and came to speak to us, stating that everything went great... got it all! Never seen him again... my mom spent next couple of days at hospital and he never came back for any follow up with her or family. She was moved back to our area hospital and we were told she would need therapy to get back to normal. After almost a week of therapy she started to get worse.... we were told that when Dr Slavin went into to remove the tumor he seen the cancer was in the lining of her brain and this was terminal... WE WERE NEVER told this by him, he never returned calls and 3 weeks after my moms surgery we lost her.

I have been a patient of Dr. Slavin for 3 years, and had a spinal chord stimulator implant done for RSD/CRPS. When he was setting the leads he was very attentive to what I said, and took as much time as was needed to get the leads right. I was amazed that he was willing to spend that much time, when the doctor that did the original test implant took only a fraction of that, and I did not have nearly the input then.I have seen him since for adjustments, and always feel like he had as much a=time to give me as i needed. He is a truly compassionate doctor, and I am so glad that I was referred to him.

I tell everyone who complains about waiting to see Dr. Slavin, that it's the most beneficial time they'll ever spend. I first saw him 6 years ago when I couldn't stand to even sit in a chair for more than 10 minutes. Walking was extrememly painful & standing still, upright, impossible. He literally gave me my life back. He truly cares about his patients, and cares what happens to them. Even though he has hundreds of paitients, he knows me by name when I see him in the hallway before my yearly visit, & even asks about my family. Very special man.

Does not care about pre-care of patient or post-operative care. Care of patient during surgery is minimal. His staff is very inefficient and rude in all locations. His patients are not treated as human beings and are pushed through the hospital process like a cattle drive instead of as sick individuals. His ICU staff does not care for the immediate needs of patients after major surgery. There is no pain management and monitors are ingnored completely. I would not recommend this individual, his staff or the locations to anyone.

My grandfather who is 83 now was diagnosed with brain tumor, and Dr Slavin basically gave my grandpa extra years to live. Dr Slavin's hands are made out of gold. He is very knowledgeable, caring, and just simply THE BEST!!!!

Dr Slavin is very professional in what he does, i would recommend him to anyone, his stuff different story.
