Dr. Konstantina M. Stankovic, MD, PhD, FACS

Dr. Stankovic is an excellent doctor, who spent time answering my questions. I had total trust in her ability to handle my middle ear hearing loss.

Dr. Stankovic rushed me out of her office, per usual for most doctors these days but did see that I had an MRA to look for vascular anomalies in my brain ( I was being seen for pulsatile tinnitus). However, I had to reach out by email to her to get some kind of explanation as to why I have this problem (a constant whooshing in the ears that syncs with the heart beat). She said in (very) brief that it could be metabolic: thyroid, or caused by anemia and suggested having a blood panel done, which she would NOT have ordered. I have been given no further direction as to how to proceed with my problem. On top of all this, she has no bedside manner--is not friendly. I am very disillusioned, frustrated and angry by my experience with Dr. Stankovic, and she is supposed to be an expert on pulsatile tinnitus. Right.

Very strange encounter with this doctor. Made an appointment with her because I prefer female doctors and my previous doctor left who I had been seeing for years. She brought another doctor in to our meeting to record everything we said. He greeted me with a deadpan face and sat down to record. Stankovic didn't seem to care or respond to my questions or requests. She referred me back to my PCP. I thought, wait a minute, my PCP refers me to specialists like yourself. One would think that a doctor seeing a patient for the first time would want to take a little time to get to get to know that patient. I will never return to her.

I first saw Dr Stankovic for a cholesteatoma. She performed a tympanoplasty and mastoidectomy in my first surgery. My second surgery was to have been a craniotomy to repair a gap in my skull caused by the original cholesteatoma. Because Dr Stankovic was so progressive she was using a new navigation technology to aid in my craniotomy. The pre-op scans provided by the new technology provided additional views that allowed her to determine the surgery was not necessary and my body was healing itself. If she had not been in the forefront of her field I would have had an unnecessary procedure. Her bedside manner is phenomenal. She is incredibly capable and losses none of the people focus. She answers all your questions and I have never felt rushed when having an appointment. I cannot recommend her highly enough. I wholeheartedly trusted her when it came to my well being. A phenomenal surgeon. I wish others would be more like her.

Very proactive and successful in repairing my ruptured eardrum. Clear communication, friendly, and professional. Spends plenty of time addressing questions yet somehow maintains appointments on schedule. Overall, a great experience over several visits including one surgery.

Dr. Stankovic and the entire MEEI staff were fantastic. I couldn't be happier with the outcome of my middle ear surgery, her compassion and confidence. I can't imagine a better ear surgeon exists!
