A native of Kansas, Dr. Canfield earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1999 and completed his surgical residency at Michigan State University. He practiced in northern Kansas until 2010, when he and his family relocated to Gillette. Over the past eight years, he has passionately served the local community—most recently as Chief of Surgery at Campbell County Memorial Hospital—and has also volunteered his surgical expertise on mission trips to Mexico, Costa Rica, and Cameroon, experiences that have deepened his cultural sensitivity and patient-centered philosophy.
