Dr. Kristen Elsa Cain, MD

I've grown to respect Dr. Cain quite a bit over the many months I've been a patient at Sanford Reproductive Medicine Clinic in Fargo. Her credentials speak for themselves as far as whether she knows what she's doing. It is clear that she is passionate about women's health, loves her job, and cares about her patients. (Find and check out the blog she kept from 2012-2014). At the same time, she'll be blunt and tell it like it is. Not many doctors can pull that combination off without simply coming across as the arrogant doctor stereotype. The clinic is lovely, but it has its limitations, along with the state of North Dakota in general. (Potential license plate mottos: "passive-aggressive central" or "brrrrrr!"). Dr. Cain's style is a breath of fresh air. Fertility treatments rank up there with the most awful life experiences a woman can have. Anyone who could win me over under such circumstances receives my highest recommendation! New York's loss is Fargo's gain. (The patient… who gave the one-star review must have been difficult to work with).

I've been very happy during my visits with Dr. Cain. She is very knowledgeable in her field and is very passionate about women's health. She takes the time to answer any questions I have, as well as those of any family who join me at my appointments. I feel she is honest and gives me hope for the future. The staff at the clinic she practices at, is also top-notch. I enjoy all of my visits there because of the kind and caring attitudes of everybody around. I would recommend Dr. Cain to anybody who is having trouble conceiving.

For those who pay out of pocket for IVF treatments beware this office prefers quantity over quality. Dr.Cain has some knowledge in her area but not sufficient to adjust the protocol to individual needs. does not pay attention to detail. she will keep on repeating the same protocol all over again without trying to analyze why the treatment failed.

I am shocked by the other review and felt the need to respond:I had to say I am OVERLY impressed with Reproductive Specialists of NY in Stony Brook. I was referred to Dr. Kristen Cain for fertility issues and she is wonderful, professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable. In fact, I have been impressed with ALL of the doctors in this office. The nurses and sonogram techs are amazing!This office is a well-oiled machine. Very flexible appointment scheduling and reasonable office wait time for a very busy office. This team guides you every step of the way, of what can be a very stressful time. I am currently going through treatments and hoping for the best, but I know I am in the right hands for sure!

I am writing this in all sincerity since I know how difficult it is to find a doctor in Nassau County (or one that takes my insurance- GHI).But Dr. Cain was just awful and I left in tears and I will never return to that office!Please do yourselves a favor and FIND A DIFFERENT DOCTOR!I cannot emphasize this enough. Every cycle is precious to a couple trying to conceive a baby and the cycle I spent at this office and being seen my this doctor was a waste of time and money.They did an unnecessary IUI and then did not do enough to monitor my ovulation to give us the best chance of conceiving this month.She BERATED me for not having papers that my husband had signed notarized because of the legal implications of not having this on file but she DID THE IUI anyway! Even after I told her my husband would not make it in today she did the IUI- and then came in to berate me afterwards for not having the papers notarized. They should've had him sign the consent forms on ONE OF THE TWO times he was… IN THE OFFICE!
