Dr. Kristi Lee Dively

Unfortunately, I have nothing good to say about this doctor. She suggested giving me pitocin and breaking my water to make sure my labor won't go too long. I had been in labor for only 6 hours. I asked her if the baby was in distress and she said no. I told her I wanted to wait and she kept insisting it wouldn't matter if I get the pitocin now or later. She also was also vocal in complaining how tired she was from working so long. There were many instances during my labor and delivery when she was arrogant, had no patience with hearing my concerns or birthing plan, nor explain to me why she wanted to hasten my labor. Because of this, I felt unsafe in her care. She was a new doctor in the practice I was going to and was on call when I went into labor. If I only knew she was the way she was, I would have moved to a different practice or changed doctors. I will recommend to anyone NOT to see her.

I had the misfortune of going into labor near the end of a holiday weekend. Dr. Herbst was the Dr. on-call. After a few calls to the hospital during my labor, she called and asked them to prep me for a c-section, without ever having seen me or gotten accurate information about my labor. The baby was not in any distress, but she said I was proceeding too slowly (I was in labor less than 20 hours). I saw the shock on the hospital's resident Dr. when the nurse told her that Dr. Herbst was recommending a c-section. I asked to wait until I had a chance to talk to Dr. Herbst. When she walked into the room she was noticably annoyed at my having asked to wait for her. Worse - she didn't even know the basics of my labor (I asked couldn't they try breaking my water, and she said, "I thought they already had. Oh well, it won't make any difference.") I made it clear I wanted to wait to try to allow the labor to progress, and even offered to remove the epidural to speed it up. She argued with me… until I felt I had no choice. It was like having a used-car salesman for a Dr. She used obvious scare tactics to get me to agree to the procedure. Then during the actual c-section I had to listen to her complain to the attending student about how tired she was of delivering babies all weekend, and she even complained in detail about a specific "annoying" patient. Completely unprofessional. She is a hack,and it is sad that she is a part of such an amazing event in women's lives.

I found Dr. Herbst to be very short and uncaring during my prenatal care. Her bedside manner leaves much to be desired. I am a well educated RN, yet she still treated me in a condescending manner. I would not recommend her.
