simply the best Psych dr I've had. Im bipolar 1 and have had at least 11 drs who have all over prescribed or simply not cared to actually listen. Dr Hestdalen is a refreshing, much needed part of my now stable mental health.

I started seeing Dr h when I was in high school, I had terrible anxiety and panic attacks on a daily basis that would keep me from going places or being social with anyone and everyone . It made me depressed and I felt I wasn't normal and I didn't know what was wrong with me because of the intensity and consistency of my anxiety . I was finally referred her her by my primary and my very first visit with her was amazing. She made me feel very welcome to her practice and she listened with open ears about the things I felt everyday and how it really scared me to feel that way everyday and how it had me hating life. After my first visit with her things started to get much better for me. My anxiety slowly decreased day by day and my panic attacks stopped completely . It was crazy how happy I was because I was actually living life and doing things that I never did before when I had anxiety . It's been about 7 years since I started going to her and I still see her on a regular basis and… I'm still anxiety free. I have never been so happy with a doctor, I highly recommend going to this amazing doctor. She will most definitely listen to all your problems and do whatever she can to help and make you happy. 10 out of 10 in my book !!!

She provided excellent service and treatment for my son. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a knowledgeable yet caring Doctor.

I find the last review very hard to relate to in any way, except for the part about Dr. Hestdalen being a compassionate and very kind and responsible doctor. I have been to numerous physicians in town only to hear that I can't get an appointment for MONTHS. I was able to get through to Dr. Hestdalen in times when I really needed my meds refilled, so I don't know why there was so much trouble with another patient getting a return call. Doctors usually don't even have time to call patients, their secretaries ask for you to write on the ehealth portals. Re: the money issue, I think it is very kind of Dr. Hestdalen to provide discounts. Most docs are cash pay only. That's why I switched TO her, because she does take insurance and treats the underserved and people who are struggling financially. She has always been reliable. Perhaps she was on vacation and it wasn't clear she was out of town? At least she called back. I have to literally walk into my PCP's office and ask the secretary to… track the doc down. I like Dr. Hestdalen very much and feel she cares about me (and my sister who she sees as well). I'd recommend her highly to anyone, actually. I like that she has three offices so that I can drive from Carson and the commute isn't so bad.

Dr. Hestdalen, I'm assuming, was transferred to the low-income community organization I had been getting help at, and replaced my previous doctor. She was very polite, and very knowledgeable when we did have an appointment. A major issue seemed to be in getting appointments with her, and I hate to say I had a very bad experience with how our time together ended. Our last appointment was canceled because she was sick, and the staff tried to move me farther down to another date of which I already had plans to be moving to a new home. Fortunately Dr. Hestdalen had mentioned to me that she had offices in the area I was moving too. . . .Which I assumed she mentioned to me because she was going to continue caring for me at her office of which she mentioned. . .But I guess not. Unfortunately, she flat out ignored me for 3 weeks after I moved. I left 3 voice mails at two separate offices, and spoke to 2 different clerks who were both baffled to hear I had a hard time of reaching her.… One suggested that I e-mail their office, which I did, before finally giving up on her and looking for a new psychiatrist. I left her a final voice-mail thanking her for the help she did provided me, and that despite the rough ending, I had appreciated her help. Then I went off to an appointment with another doctor. Rather comically, Dr. Hestdalen called me RIGHT as I was going into the appointment. I did also notice that she called from a RESTRICTED number, which was more than complimenting of her to do. She thanked me for my last message and said she had been meaning to call me, (it only took her 3 weeks to do it apparently) and said she felt that she couldn't continue seeing me (even though I had just left her a message saying I was going to a different doctor) as she would be too EXPENSIVE at her new location. She did mention she would be willing to offer me a discount, thought she still felt like it was going to be too expensive. I told her I had to be going as I had an appointment of which I was currently attending. She happily asked me to give her a call back (at the RESTRICTED number) and told me she had plenty of plans and ideas for me I seriously wish I was making this up, because the lady seems very nice, and never seemed to be spiteful or odd in any way towards me during our sessions. I can only assume she was going through some sort of trouble, which is why I will give her 3 stars that I know she deserves, and not 2 I feel that she deserves. I will however caution anyone that needs a doctor who is prompt and easy with appointments, as I had one heck of a time with this doctor during a point in which I really needed help.

I've been seeing Dr. Hestdalen for 8 years now, started seeing her at 14 for depression reasons and she diagnosed me with some mental conditions. Extremely intelligent, very non-judgemental and easy to talk to. Dr. H is not like any other psychiatrist I have been to, she legitimately cares about the wellbeing of her patients. She calls me just to check up on me when I'm in a slump on her own time, which I've NEVER had a doctor do. Dr. H has saved my life and helped me realize that I can have a good life even though I am Bipolar and have PTSD.

I met Dr. Hestdalen after a terrible loss. I credit her for saving my life. Dr. Hestdalen has a rare combination of intelligence and empathy and humor. She just "gets it," and is always readily available. I would definitely recommend this doctor.

Dr. Kristin Hestdalen is one of the most wonderful doctors I have ever had. I started seeing her during a difficult time in my life, and hated every other psychiatrist I tried before her. I have seen many doctors for lots of problems; and I have never felt that any of them cared for me in the way she did. Not only did she treat me with the proper and most effective medications, but she used her broad depth of therapeutic skills to get me theough it all. Most psychiatrists push meds and push you out the door, and she listens to what you want and is open to suggestions and is the only doc that still does therapy besides meds! I have never trusted a doctor in the way I trust her. She went above and beyond for me, as I know she does for all her patients, and having her as my provider has truly changed my life. She did whatever it took to make me better and to build an empathic relationship with me. She spent time with me, was punctual, professional, listened intently always, had great… advice and used good therapy. Most importantly, and particularly in this specialty, I felt cared for and changed, really, every single time I saw her. I couldn't recommend anyone more highly. I feel really blessed to have found Dr. Hestdalen. She will always be the doctor I compare all others to. She's the best Child Psychiatrist in town. Dr. Hestdalen is an incredibly kind, empathic, humanistic practitioner-the way all doctors SHOULD be. My twelve year old son has been going to her for 3 years now and she has made a huge difference in our lives with bus behavioral issues at school. She corrected his medication (another psycjoatrist in town was completely off the nark and didnt spend any time with us, putting him on high dosages of adderal to "fix" the problem." Dr. H is incredibly smart, look up her training-she uses and eclectic approach to treat patients and really looks out for the best interest of our son. I would recommend her highly.
