I am extremely disappointed with our experience. My daughter has been dealing with ongoing and worsening pelvic and abdominal pain, and instead of being taken seriously, her symptoms were minimized and attributed to anxiety. Dr. Ray relied on a CT scan from several months ago and a recent ultrasound to conclude that “nothing is wrong,” despite clear changes and worsening symptoms. When I asked about further evaluation, I was told additional imaging would not be accepted by insurance, which I do not believe was an accurate or appropriate response. There was also a strong push toward prescribing SSRIs without a complete medical workup. As a parent, this was very concerning. Mental health should not be used as a default explanation when physical symptoms have not been fully evaluated. I also felt dismissed during the visit. I was repeatedly interrupted and not given a fair opportunity to explain what has been happening with my child. That made it difficult to advocate for her and… ensure her condition was properly understood. Most importantly, my daughter left the appointment feeling unheard and upset. She specifically asked not to return to this provider, and I respected that by changing her pediatrician. I hope this feedback encourages more thorough evaluation of patients and better communication with parents. No child should feel like their pain is being dismissed.
