1 Star — Very disappointing experience I would not recommend this provider based on my personal experience. In January 2022, I went to Family Care Center of Durant for what I understood to be a routine ear cleaning. During and immediately after the procedure, I experienced significant pain and bleeding from both ears. Before leaving, I specifically asked Kristy Smothers why my ears were bleeding and whether this was normal. I was told that it was. Over the following days, I continued to experience severe ear pain, along with blood and drainage from both ears. I was eventually referred to an ENT specialist, where I was diagnosed with perforations of both eardrums. I required months of follow-up care and was referred to OU Medical. My right eardrum eventually healed after approximately six months, while my left eardrum initially required a scheduled surgical repair. Fortunately, my left eardrum eventually healed on its own before the surgery was performed. The effects have continued… well beyond the initial incident. I experienced prolonged ear pain, had to use ear protection when showering and swimming for much of 2022, and I continue to experience frequent ear pain and permanent hearing loss in my left ear. I went in expecting a routine procedure and instead experienced months of pain, specialist treatment, and lasting hearing problems. I am sharing my experience so other patients can make an informed decision about their care.
