Dr. Kudus K Akinde, MD

My son is usually really shy when meeting people, but his provider made him so comfortable by playing little games with him while doing his checkup. I haven't ever seen that with a provider and it really shows how much he loves and respects his patients.

Dr Akende is one the of the best pediatricians!

My 9 year old son loves Dr. Akinde. He always makes my son feel comfortable and my son says that he even Likes going to the doctor's office because of Dr. Akinde! As a mom, I appreciate him because he is so knowledgable and always answers all questions. He also seems to be an advocate for kids- I love the way he talks to my son and helps to empower my son to report own symptoms, understand his symptoms and care for and protect his body and health. Dr. Akinde is personable, humorous, and educative with my son. Dr. Akinde's after visit notes were impeccable and detailed. He and his office always gets back to me in a very timely fashion whenever I have a worry or question. I get anxious, so this is crucial for me!

My children have seen the same doctor at advocate For 12 and 14 yrs respectively. Unfortunately she was busy so I booked with Akinde for school physicals. He told me that my 14 yr old needed a vaccine because in 2006 her vaccines were incorrectly administered within 4 mths. When I challenged that it didn’t make sense that this hasn’t come up before he became defensive and agitated. He ended up refusing to give the physicals. I asked for copy of the immunization records which he told me he wasn’t a medical records department and refused to help me get them. I’ve never experienced anything ever in my life like this doctor visit. Children were crying stating he was so angry.

Looks like we weren't the only family who this doctor went off on for declining the flu shot. Extremely opinionated and argumentative. Also suggested I start formula feeding my son (who was exclusive breastfeeding) because he was born at the 99% percentile and was now only at the 75% percentile in weight (he was growing well and consistently, and still above average). It wasn't his opinions that were the issue, it was the unprofessional and authoritative way they were expressed.
