Dr. Kurt William Heintzelman, MD

I highly recommend Dr. Heintzelman. If you have a family member that needs assistance I recommend this Dr. His knowledge has kept my daughter out of the hospital and back to herself again by prescribing the right set of meds and safely getting her off the other meds. Thank you Dr.

Dr. H saw me for the first time last week. I’ve gone through a series of psychiatrists that failed to diagnose me or diagnose me incorrectly. He was superb in extracting the pertinent details of my past psychiatric history. His diagnostic skills are impeccable. He was able to give me a definitive diagnosis about halfway through the initial appointment. From there we spoke medication adjustment and came up with a specified plan. Turns out a medication I’ve been on for a while has been causing more harm than good. I’m very thankful and fortunate for his expertise and willingness to help me. As far as the outcome, so far so good and much better than I was prior to my first visit with him. Looking forward to our continued doctor patient relationship together.

Pill pusher, take these and don’t ask any questions.

This doctor finally walked out on the job after getting yet another grievance filed against him. He was the absolute worst excuse for someone in the mental health field. Did not put patients best interest first. He decides if you need help based on whether he personally likes you or not. Set many back in their progress because he did not ask many questions or listen to any answers or insight you tried to give about your struggles. Guilty of lying in his notes, reports, reviews in spite because he was given negative feedback about his demeanor. Stay clear of this person at all costs. New Horizons is much better off now to be rid of this pathetic person.

The title says it all. I've never met such a rude sorry excuse for an MD in my entire life. He may be knowledgeable about mental illness, but he needs to learn some bedside manner. The way I observed him speaking to his staff was absolutely deplorable as well. Not to mention his office was decked out in Marilyn Monroe decore, which is oddly unsettling and in my mind a smidge inappropriate for a psychiatric office.

He instantly likes you or dislikes you. If he dislikes you then do not even bother continuing with him. You will get the worst bed side manner humanly possible. He decides you are not in need of actual help without knowing anything about your life & labels you as lazy. He has the worst reputation from both current & former patients. Even his own colleagues, upon discovering you had to deal with him, will offer their sincerest apologies & try to build you back up after he has torn you down.

This was my previous psychiatrist until I relocated. After reading a nasty review left by someone else, I felt compelled to leave a review. Upon meeting, he was very attentive, took notes, and truly listened to me (many Drs don’t because they think they know you better than you do in 15 minutes) Anyway, he showed true compassion and an interest to help. I told him what worked and what didn’t in the past and we started a treatment regimen from there (not from the beginning as can be the case with many Drs seeing new patients). After having a terrible experience with a previous psychiatrist, I found Dr Kurt to be exceptional. My wait time was not that bad- I prefer a Dr that takes time with patients anyway! So, that was my experience with this Dr. If I still lived there I would have continued being his patient.

If you get referred to this Dr, run the other way!! His bedside manner is pathetic, he doesn't try to communicate at all, he stays focused on his computer the entire time. He comes across as smug and arrogant. The longest I've ever been in his office even the initial new patient exam was 15mins. The waiting room is dark, very cold and uninviting, where you feel like a number instead of a person. He actually forgot me in the waiting room, I don't know how one forgets a patient but he did. So I sat there for an hr, thinking he's running behind (giving him the benefit of the doubt). I ask the receptionist what's going on and she was less than helpful telling me that I would have to reschedule to be seen again! Really?!? He is a joke! Not to mention giving me the wrong diagnosis... Shocker right?!
