Dr. Kurt Robert Madsen, DO

I do not recommend going to Dr madsen. I just recently went to him for my first appointment. I entered the door in a wheel chair with my cousin and his service dog. Before we could even make it thru the door he yelled at me and my cousin " get that dog out of my office" we continued to enter to educate him that the certified service dog was allowed in any public place as well as a doctors office. He did not care what we had to say he immediately called security which would not come because it's a civil matter then proceeded to call terre haute police department on us for us to be removed because of the service dog. Mind you the service dog is very well trained and did not cause any issues . He sat next to my cousin the entire time and never moved u til we was told to leave and he gave command to get up. He also refused to see me with no explanation which I had been waiting 13 weeks to be seen by him. He is very unprofessional and did all this yelling and uncalled for behavior in… front of other patients . He then told his staff to send all patients to rooms immediately to get them away from service dog. He is very unprofessional and I have heard hundreds of bad allegations also filed against him for body shaming and not properly taking care of his patients needs.

I spent about 3 hours in his office. He explained everything about my condition in terms of why he did not recommend surgery. He was patient, answered all my questions about risk factors associated with different options. He was sincerely interested in doing what would be best for me. He did not seem so "money hungry" as other orthopedic surgeons I have seen. In fact, he recommended that I NOT have surgery because of my risk factors. He was a real gentleman and treated me with respect. He is definitely is a cut above other orthopedic doctors I have seen in Indianapolis

I had shoulder surgery in '04 and I now have nerve damage and tendinopathy. {didn't realize the trouble until a few years later}. I also had knee surgery in '05 and I'm not sure what was done, but I was still having a lot of pain. A few years later I found out that I still had a torn meniscus and someone else's surgery pictures! I had another surgery by my new knee dr [in Indianapolis] & now my knee seems back to normal!

I had back surgery by Madsen over a year ago he is disrespectful, and he did not fix the problem he recently told me he missed an area that should have been treated now I have to go through more test and possible surgery to correct what he should have fixed while he had me on the table. do not use this doctor.

I was sent to Dr. Madsen by the emergency room. His exam rooms and bathroom were insanely filthy. He asked 3 times what insurance I had but never asked if I had any questions. He never offered a back brace although that is the main treatment for what I had. I got an RX for one by following him out of the room and asking for one. He talked mostly about how "insurance probably isn't going to pay for this." When he was done he said, "Well, OK." and walked out. Horrible.

Dr. Madsen strongly recommended that I have kyphoplasty to relieve back pain. During the surgery he evidently damaged a nerve which left me with my original back pain as well as much more new pain from the damaged nerve. This pain is similar to the pain of shingles. I will be on medication for the rest of my life. He denied responsibility. I am very sorry I had this surgery with Dr. Madsen, and I would not recommend anyone having similar surgery.
