Dr. Kurt I. Uyehara received his degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, School of Dentistry. His class was the first one in the school’s history to have a dedicated orofacial pain course in the formal dental curriculum. Since graduation, Dr. Uyehara has expanded greatly on that foundation of knowledge he gained in school by pushing the educational boundaries through continuing education courses each year. Through this pursuit of excellence, Dr. Uyehara realized the importance of treating not only the craniofacial pain/TMJD aspect, but also the unconscious sleep disordered breathing/obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr. Uyehara’s Family and Preventive Dental Health Care and Sleep & TMJ Wellness Institute, has served his Hawaii community for over 18 years. During this period, Dr. Uyehara has made it a personal commitment to his patients by offering the most beneficial dental health care treatment options available today. He has attended over 1000 …hours for continuing education locally, across the continental U.S.A., and internationally abroad. He has also lectured locally, in the continental U.S.A., as well as internationally, and has participated in research studies and articles for the advancement of dentistry. Dr. Uyehara has also assisted in teaching general dentists and pediatric dentists in the diagnosis and treatment of craniofacial pain/TMJD and sleep disordered breathing, emphasizing non-surgical craniomandibular orthopedics/orthodontics.
Over the years, he’s made countless ties with experts in their fields from all over the world and wishes to help the community in every possible way that he can.
Dr. Uyehara’s philosophy is to conservatively, preventively, and health-consciously treat patients as if they were his own mother or father, utilizing science, technology, and common sense to best achieve each and every patient’s treatment desires.
