Dr. Kyle Wayne Coffman, MD

Was the most horrible experience I ever had with a Physician from the Jackson Clinic. He was rude and threatening if I did not follow what he wanted, and how long I was going to stay in the hospital, when I have years of experience on my on health. All other specialist released me. It felt like he was trying to impress the nursing staff with his authority. I have had nothing but great things to say about this Clinic with this one exception.

He is the most compassionate person I have ever met. The kind that will look you in the eye and not hesitate to give you a hug. My aunt was on life support and we had decisions to make. He helped us by explaining in detail what her life would be like if we didn't take her off life support and was helpful in coordinating what needed to be done. The whole team of nurses and doctors were very helpful in the ICU.

Dr. Coffman was the hospital generalist for my father who was there because of swallowing difficulties. My father is 88 years old and although in good shape until this happened, he had some issues remembering every doctor that saw him. Therefore, I left specific instructions with the nursing staff that I needed to either talk to him (Coffman) or he could call my cell phone. I never got a call from him nor saw him until the day my father was released which was the fifth day of the stay. My father required a feeding tube be inserted and he would need speech therapy to recover from what was apparently a stroke. Dr. Coffman advised us that he would release him to go home until I intervened and insisted that he be released to skilled nursing. My father had no idea how to feed himself until the day of his release. Dr. Coffman agreed to skilled nursing but insisted that my father did not need PT or OT. The short ending is that it was a fiasco to get out of the hospital and this could have… been avoided has he taken the time to come and talk to the family and discuss the issues.

Very good doctor. Great bedside manner! Really seems to care.
