Dr. Kyle Vincent Goerl, MD

My primary care physician referred me to Dr. Goerl for pain in my knee, hip and ankle. I had an appointment today, May 13 for a few weeks. We are leaving for Italy to visit family on the 21st, so I asked them to put me on a wait list in case an earlier appointment came available. On Sunday, May 4, I received an email saying an earlier appointment was available for Tuesday May 6th. I was elated and grabbed it. 15 hour later, first thing Monday morning, I received a call informing me that Dr. Goerl had decided to do a clinic for Colorado Avalanche and they'd have to reschedule my appointment. I told them they better not have given away my first appointment for the 13th. She looked it up and said she was sorry, someone already took that appointment! She offered to reschedule for a later date - when we're on vacation! Yesterday, on the 12th, I received an email asking me to check-in online for my appointment the next day. I got excited, thinking they must have gotten my original… appointment back, but wondered why they hadn't called, so I called them. No, my appointment had been taken by someone else and she didn't know why I got an email asking me to check in. Most disorganized medical facility I've ever dealt with. Telling my self it's probably a blessing, especially after getting on her and seeing his measly 2 stars. I'm sure the Colorado Avalanche clinic is a lot more fun for a young doctor than dealing with a 72 year old patient with an appointment, but not the kind of medical ethics I want to deal with. I will be scheduling with someone else when I get back.

Dr. Goerl saw me once for an Ultrasound Guided Saphenous Nerve Perineural Injection in my right knee. He greeted me by handshake and then was all business (which was fine; most osteos and surgeons aren’t known for their “bedside manner .”) He was also training a new fellow and spoke to him throughout - which again, was fine. I asked him in the beginning to please tell me every step was he was about to do before doing it, and he agreed. Then, when he grabbed the first needle, he came close to my knee saying nothing and I stated, “You’re going to tell me before you do that, right?” He agreed, did not do so throughout the remainder of the procedure. Then, after we were done, he shook my hand again and stayed, “it was a pleasure.” Huh?! This was quite a painful procedure. Believe me, it was no pleasure for me. Clueless.
